| Nordman08-04-04, 04:48 PM | Im thinking of playing a Elf, Rogue, Female, Neutral Evil. Living on Thiefing,Playing instruments and hookering. Oh and put assassin job on the list! Is this a good way to play an evil character that only cares for money and dont want to treusare hunt all the time, |
| Nordman08-04-04, 05:23 PM | Come on people, don take me for a unmature idiot, answer please |
| Ganurath08-04-04, 06:51 PM | You will need insanely high Dex and Cha. Have those two be your highest. Important skills will be Slight of Hand, Bluff, Hide, Move Silently, and- don't do music if you aren't going to be a bard. Trust me, music is a bard thing. As for feats, I suggest you get Quick Draw and Flick of the Wrist ASAP. Skill boosting feats like Skill Focus and such are good too. as for flavor, make her a Por Alsor elf. Rascism against humans and half-elves helps to explain the evil element. It's a big city, so that covers the rogue issue too. |
| Nordman08-05-04, 03:44 AM | Okay, She a Elf but whats a por alosor?, 18 in dex, 15 in cha. slight of hand 8 wit hdex bonus i think, bluff around 6-7 hide and move silently around 6-8 to. rascism against humans and half elf okay but what about dwarf? or drow elf? |
| Persephone Imytholin08-05-04, 09:28 AM | Thinking back to this thread (http://www.livejournal.com/community/bad_rpers_suck/649562.html) from the Bad_Rpers_Suck (http://www.livejournal.com/community/bad_rpers_suck) community over on LiveJournal... No. I, personally, think that it's a very, very bad way to play an evil character*, especially if you expect to play for more than a few minutes. Living on thievery, bedding anything in trousers and killing all that moves in the name of money isn't a very well-developed character. The best evil characters tend to be the ones that have the very, very best of intentions - everything they do is faultlessly reasonable to them. Furthermore, you might find people more willing to help you if you don't write snarky comments about not getting replies thirty-five minutes after your original post - especially if, when you do get a response, you don't reply to it for another eight hours and fifty-three minutes. And Ganurath, for the record you might find the Character Optimisation (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=339) board is more your scene. *That is, it's a very bad way to play an evil character in a roleplay focused game. |
| Nordman08-05-04, 11:23 AM | Well, I been on forums before, And i dont know why i should wait for 8 hours and 30 minutes, IN which seens? Well, Then i should maybe try to play something else. I would like to play a wise man sometimes but it doesnt exsist in Dnd, Is DnD only dungeons bashin and no roleplaying? |
| Persephone Imytholin08-05-04, 11:41 AM | You should be prepared to wait because you're asking people you've never met before, who've never even heard of you, to take their time and use it to help you. Even then, it often goes by without a word of thanks or even acknowledgement. If a way of playing your chosen concept doesn't seem to be there, make it yourself. Play the character you want to play, otherwise there's just particularly bad stereotyping - and that's giving the benefit of the doubt, since it could just as easily be seen as offensive stereotyping. |
| EatFlan08-05-04, 12:04 PM | Now think about your character, before being a rogue you're an ELF. A very very very long lived race...most of them seem to be at least 50-60 before they even leave their forests to do other things. So with that in mind, constantly drinking, having the sex, and petty crime MUST get boring after 30 years. Just think about it, that stuff that shortlived thrill stuff is for the short lived races. Leave it to the humans, you're an elf! So with that behind me, must say i agree with another poster who said that the best evil characters are the calculating ones. Ones w/agendas and who believe in their paths as being right. Who better to do that than an elf, you can PLOT for years and years. You could have the longest spanning plot ever. Also you said you'd love to play the 'wise man' there are plenty of wise men out there. You could be the poor wise man and be a monk, wisdom is their primary and you could really philosophise. Or a Cleric, be the old religious wise man. D&D is what you make of it |
| Nordman08-05-04, 04:52 PM | Okay people, I thank you for your help And I use to say thanks when i think i gained enough info, my friends, Sadly, enough you dont see me as a friend Persephone Imytholin. |
| MetalGemini08-05-04, 05:56 PM | Eh, there's nothing wrong with an elven character like that. I would suggest making her more like the Madam than the prostitute. Use you Cha to swindle and keep a high lifestyle. Haven't you ever heard of an elven brothel? I haven't either, so thats what would make it cool. Every once in a while the Madam could off one of the wealthier patrons, rob him, and no one would know because you wouldn't expect a wealthy merchant to tell many people that he was planning on going to the brothel for the night. Rogue is a good class choice. Bard would be great too. Maybe multiclass? Gives you a few spells and tons of skill points for Bluff, Diplomacy, Knowledge (Nobility) [tell who's rich and who isn't], Sleight of Hand, etc. |
