| Moon-Lancer08-18-04, 02:46 PM | If anyone has the time, could they could give me some suggestions on how to play this charicter. If none have suggestions could someone give me a creteq of the charicter? I was also going to add some of these personalitys taken from the 1001 persinality quarks ------------------------------------- Quite, thoughtful, Does not understand the local system of exchange. Why, my character wonders, is a vial of ink worth eight times its weight in gold, while a knife is worth a small fraction of its weight in gold? You could take this to any extreme. Maybe the character always forgets how many silver coins exchange for a gold, or which metal is more valuable. For a Druid: Carries a bonsai tree with him everywhere he goes. He prunes it while resting to regain spells. Flies into a rage if it's ever harmed. Will try to convince treants to let him prune them. Quiver of ehlonna dm guild p265 Believes that he/she is some chosen hero of an ancient prophecy 100) never refuses a challenge, no matter how stupid it may be #162: Dares everyone who does not agree with him to a duel. The other may pick the weapons and he'll set the location (really fun if u have balance and can fight on a castle wall, difficult for the barbarian with the battleaxe ). 196- Names all of his "special moves" and cries them out during a fight 201- Wears a cape. Casts spells to make the cape sway when there is no wind. Claims it's for "dramatic effect". 216) Character believes they are destined to do or find something, and are therefore invincible. -------------------------------------------------------- His name is Hobbes Draylion. He is a anthropomorphic tiger. He thinks in another life he might have been an elf or half elf. He may even have an elf sperit inside of him now. He tends to get along with elves and half elves much better then any other races. In the world he exists in, many people look at him strangely because he is a very rare thing indeed. He is very self concise about how other people treat him. When people think he is not looking they give him dirty looks. At times old/wise elves gives him a smile as if they know something about him that he does not. This perplexes him. For he knows that elves tend to think they are better then other races and cannot see why they would treat him the way they do. Background: 4 years before the campaign started he awoke inside an elven burial tome upon a slate of carved stone (much like king Author in the gargoyles cartoon). When he awoke, he held a full blade in both this hands (the grip) with the long blade pointing down towards his feet. This sword has 4 jewels embedded into the guard (2 on each side) This sword is wider then most swords and has a ff7 resemblance. upon waking, Draylion could not remember who he was. He stumbled for a bit, leaning on his sword. Adorned along the walls and around the stone slab were runes carved out of a language he could not understand, although he felt he should know these symbols. He stared at the runes for an hour, and at times when trying to remember the past, he felt as if the runes were taking on a odd sort of glow, but would fade before he could really tell if they were or if it was just his imagination. Other times he would hear whispers in a language different from thoughts that fluttered about his head Leaving the temple and claming up their stairs, he thought he caught a glimpse of a light passing between the lettering into the room he had just occupied. But he shook such thoughts from his mind. Stepping out into a clearing in a forest Draylion saw he was in underground a crypt/temple/tomb, that lead out into a clearing in a forest. Above ground the tome was carved in marble and other types of a stone and was like a door with a flat roof leading underground. The temple was on a small island surrounded by water but he was not paying attention at that moment and had walked across the water, into the forest, but then hit struck him. He walked across the water, not through it. And when he looked back there was only more forest. That following night he was plagued by dreams. Some horrible with images beyond compare, others were hard to understand, in one of these dreams, he saw himself with wings, and what looked like his sword he had taken with him only it was always changing shape and material and the jewels were glowing with a bright energy, the sword was also covered in runes but he could see the runes for they were so bright. The next day Draylion managed to find his way south to a land called The Kingdom of Rowel. Suspicious of new things, Draylion pulled his cloak about him as he walked though the town. He stopped seldom and when he did, asked those around him where one might learn about strange runes. Few helped him but finally Draylion came across a solemn elven man who gave him shelter and offered to help him in his search. The elf man, Faulken, guided Draylion from kingdom to kingdom with a tolerance and kindness not normally seen in elves showing his new companion the lay of the land and helping him learn how the society worked. Together the two searched every library from the kingdom of Rowel all the way to the castle of Linderwal. There Faulken told Draylion he must leave him but that others in the kingdom would help him from there. Draylion was doubtful but his time with the elves had given him a sense that destiny will guide you and wandered through the enormous castle looking for a sign. Finally a poster nailed to a post caught his eye, telling of an adventurers school for those wanting who felt they had a mission or quest. The journey from the castle to the school was not far and Draylion swiftly made his way there to see what it could offer. Swiftstream, the master at the school, seemed to have been expecting the tiger and when Draylion arrived found himself part of a small group of other misfits. Draylion remains at the linderwal school for adventuring arts, never feeling quite at home but never feeling called to leave. He feels frustrated and cramped, as if he is waiting for his life to begin, but also feels a twinge of hope that perhaps wise master swiftstream will tell him the secret that hides in his eyes. With graduation drawing near each adventurer has been promised a scroll of wisdom from the master of the school and Draylion suspects that the elderly cleric has been using his powers to look at the future, or possibly to look at the past. With scant hours between now and graduation Draylion can only wait… |

| The Pantless Mage08-19-04, 01:56 AM | Well, I'm not quite sure what you need in the way of help, but as one of the few (I'm just guessing on this) people who has played an anthropomorphic feline (panther specifically) I feel that I should at least attempt some assistance. As far as mannerisms, I recommend praticing rolling your R's and taking every opportunity to say "Purrrrfect" it'll annoy the bejesus out of everyone else :D I often described my character as grooming himself, and sniffing the air a lot when he got nervous. I also highly recommend investing in the scent feats in Savage Species, they can give useful back up to the description of sniffing the air and smelling out enemies. From the background you gave though, you are perhaps going for an anthro who wants to distance himself more from his feline aspects, and prove his own humanity to the doubting masses. In this case I'd recommend having him carry himself with somewhat of a straight forward manner, and avoid slinking. Have him talk in an urbane and intelligent manner (actual intelligence warranting) He wants to prove that he is as human as anyone else. He could often refer to both his destiny and destiny in general in somber tones when key events occur. He appears at this point to be picking up that there is something special about him and that he has a purpose, so you can play this up. It could also manifest later in perhaps a pious devotion to either an elven god or a god of fate/destiny if the campaign goes that way. I hope you find something useful in my above ramblings, like I said, I'm not sure if they will help much. Basically to sum up I'd say just remember that he has two halves, human and animal. Whether you play up one and down play the other, or have him become a feral beast who growls and snarls in combat, but sips tea in evening, do something to contrast or blend the two halves. |
| Moon-Lancer08-19-04, 11:07 AM | Thanks allot. I thought no one was going to respond because the post was too long. I really appreciate it. I was definitely going to have him talk a little less then the other character and perhaps have him be a little more thoughtful or wise (he has a high wisdom but only a int of 11. He is going to be Very precise when he speaks. I like the idea of the 2 conflicting half’s. I was going to have him worship ehlohna or however you spell it. he is going to detest the modern world and revel in the beauty of the forest. But also find that the forest is a very lonely place. Whenever I can im going to have him sleep outdoors and avoid sleeping at inns. He might sleep in the barn? Any way if it helps his stats are Str-17 Dex-24 Con-14 Int-11 Wis-16 Cha-11 Thanks for your help. Also I didn’t know scent was a feat I thought it was a special ability but I shale look it up. |
| The Pantless Mage08-19-04, 12:35 PM | Well on the scent thing. It is an ability you gain as an anthro, but there are two feats in the Savage Species book that expand the range that you can smell things and pinpoint their location. With the second feat you can pinpoint the smell of things in a decently large radius, well atleast compared to the pinpointing within 5 ft that scent usually has. |
