| Pan_Ai_Khan10-26-05, 08:43 AM | Greetings. I'm creating a first-level Warforged Artificer, and could do with one or two pointers in 'fleshing out' the character (no pun intended). My current idea is a recently-created Warforged that was used by an unscrupulous Artificer to help make items. This Artificer operated from a mobile workshop (horse-drawn caravan or wagon) and sold items to villages / towns while passing through. The Artificer often sold 'buffed' items as permanent enchantments, moving on before the infusions wore off and the buyer realized they had been duped. This 'dishonest' environment molded the Warforged's outlook (look after number one, keep secrets, trust no-one). When a group of dissatisfied customers eventually caught up with the caravan, the resulting confrontation left the Warforged badly damaged, the Artificer dead, and the workshop all but destroyed. The Warforged took the opportunity to collect together what could be salvaged and disappear into the night. While in hiding, it repaired the damage to itself during the day, and traveled at night, until it reached Sharn (where the campaign is set to start). The Warforged keeps it's original identity and origins a closely guarded secret, but genuinly wants to help people (it thought it WAS helping before, is confused about the attack, and does not want to be 'found'). I want to play this character as an oddball inventor, somewhere between a Gnomish Tinkerer and 'Bloody Stupid' Johnson (diskworld reference). Always on edge, always looking towards 'new and improved', never satisfied with 'old and inferior'. Any comments? |
