I've been tempted to post my character for a while now, given the fun I've had with him. I first created Prometheus several months ago for a high powered 40 point buy game, and he has undergone many changes since then.

Originally, Prometheus was a Neutral Good guy who had an anger problem, and a penchant for eating the faces of those who push him too far. But as I've played over the last several months he has now become a sociopathic killing machine with the belief system of an Athar (Planescape).

Either way, he serves as a great mouthpiece for my melodramatic tendencies and is also pretty awesome when he starts bellow threats and boasts.

Over the last several months I've had many great moments with him, which I think I'll list.

One of his first actual battles was with some thugs on a street near the inn we were staying. He was trying to give them some cookies, since they would probably go stale in a day or two, but they wanted none of that. Very quickly things began to escalate, finishing with Prommy grabbing the leader by the throat. Knives were drawn and they ended up accidentally killing the leader and doing negligible damage to Prommy. He then proceeded to grab the corpse of the leader and use it as an impromptu greatclub. He then proceeded to CRIT with the improvised corpse greatclub and took down a thug (which could be amusingly ironic if it was him who accidentally killed the leader). Next round? Another swing and a downed thug. All in all it was a great fight.

The next eventful battle was one of the party's favourites: Tank Fight. We were currently boarding in a legion barracks underground when the rogue Naval Elite soldiers attacked using their mechanical tunneling tank machine...things. There were much cries for Poseidon to give them strength, etc, as one can expect for their patron deity. Well, Prometheus was too happy about these Navy punks causing trouble...

Prometheus then unhinges his jaw, revealing a maw of razor sharp fangs and roars as his eyes turn red. He then smashes his fist into the Elite's stomach! "TIME TO DIE, FLIMSY BAGS OF MEAT! YOUR GOD CANNOT SAVE YOU NOW!"

And then there was when he used his rocket launcher point-blank against the main tank...

<DM> There is much screaming and begging for mercy
<DM> <???> Poseidon save us!!!
<Janne> "...!!"
<Prometheus> YOUR GOD CANNOT SAVE YOU!
<DM> The tank is STILL moving though
<DM> But the door looks to be in a bad way
<Prometheus> PERHAPS HE CAN HEAR YOU CLEARER IN HELL!

And then later at a bridge fight...

* Prometheus unhinges his jaw and takes a swing and bite!
<DM> The loon is shocked
<DM> <Black Armored Loon> ... How... how is this possible?!
<Barris> ...so the emotionless one is a little girl, and the one that cooks eats people. Wonderful.
<Barris> (<BAL> The... The Eva activated itself?! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!)
<Prometheus> I COULD TELL YOU BUT SOON YOU WILL DIE
<Takano> "The empire makes some pretty weird machines."
<Menenhetet_III> Amateur
<Prometheus> WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW, YOU GREASY SACK OF FLESH AND BLOOD?!

...and shortly after he shoved a massive, powered suited Naval Elite off the bridge, down around 40 stories. The Elite's brother didn't take that well, nor the beating that happened after.

A few weeks later we end up going to Egypt to stop a war, caused by the machinations of various gods. When we meet the Pharaoh more of the Elites appeared, hoping to kill us and the ruler. A wyvern riding Elite appears through the ceiling, all ready to raise hell. Unfortunately for him, Prometheus' crazy luck with improvised weapons struck again. The enraged misanthropic death machine proceeded to hurl a COUCH at the pair and CRIT! The Wyvern was badly injured and we one the battle within 2 rounds.

Later that day we get sent on a mission to kill a Salt Lich who sent a legion of purple worms to destroy Cairo. The mummy dragon who transported us airdropped me onto the lich so I could immobilze his spellcasting, while the others would work their way through the minions guarding him. After much gangbeating of the lich, Prommy manages to finish the lich off with a bite to the throat, conveniently healing some of his damage (weapon crystal).

...and later at the palace Prommy then proceeded to crack jokes, using the skull as a macabre hand puppet. Much hilarity ensued.

Later on we had to attack some rogue Imperial vessels in Egyptian waters, which we did via dragon airlift. After the ships began dumping depth charges the party split: the meatbags and the warforged Emily would attack the two vessels from above the water, using a ship we had just raised from the depths while Prommy attacked from below the depths.

Well, Prommy attacked a ship from below with his adamantine battlefist, smashing a hole in the hull for a depth charge he took from the salvaged ship. He then detonated it as he swam away, which then proceeded to explode the powder room. I was never more thankful of my Anti-Impact armour treatment than I was then, due to the fact that it was all massive blunt trauma from the shockwave, which meant it was halved.

The party sunk the other ship as I swam to the surface, badly damaged. Prometheus looked around the area, seeing the various platearmour wearing Elites flailing around and drowning and was pleased.

<Prometheus> WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!? BWAHAHAHA!

...and then he swam to our new ship for much needed RLD spells.

Later that month the party, which is currently almost all evil or neutral characters, had to look for help with their newly acquired mine. A group of mercenaries who had a rep for embezzeling were our first stop, given they were one of the cheapest. Prommy decided to give them a clear promise of what would happen to those who wrong the party...

(unsure of exact wording at the moment...)
<Prometheus> KNOW that whomever I catch stealing us will not be able to hide. Know that I do not sleep and I will not rest until I find the culprit and kill him. I will then proceed to grin the bones of the thief into a fine flour and then bake it into a fine loaf of bread. I will then send this bread to the family of the fool. Know that THIS is what happens to those who wrong me.

<Long Knife> *mutters* Note to self, take out golem first.

<Prometheus> ...You are welcome to try, worthless sack of flesh.

<LK> !!...Get out you freaks!

....which then commenced with the building being demolished with them inside. Alas, they shouldn't have messed with Fools' Errand.

Just last week we managed to go to Japan to pull an Admiral Perry with our new Ironclad Tri-Maran. The Japanese tried to pull a fast one with several boarding craft carrying a total of 60 samurai, thinking they could take us. Quickly he leapt from the deck and into the murky depths below, waiting for his chance to sink the weak, fleshy fools. While his first punch failed to penetrate that round, he managed to cling to the bottom as it began to retreat.

The next round Prometheus sacrificed 4 HP with his Shocking Fist feat and then smashed through the hull and hit a samurai for 4d4 bonus elec damage. Not content to merely maim and electrocute the poor man, he then proceeded to pull the poor sap into the watery depths below.

One can only imagine the pure and utter terror the last few moments of his life were. Boats of his comrades incinerated with fireballs, exploded by grenades, and peppered by arrows...THEN A MASSIVE ELECTRIFIED ADAMANTINE FIST PUNCHES THROUGH THE FLOOR AND HITS YOU, ONLY TO PULL YOU DOWN TO YOUR DEATH! It is moments like this that make Team Evil quite awesome.

In any case, his journey from cheerful baker to a sadistic machine who feeds on death and pain has been an interesting one.

Well, here are his stats at the moment, but we'll probably be level 9 after this next battle. And man, I swear his weapon crystals have paid for themselves ten times over, given he has almost no source of healing but his Overload Metabolism feat, Craft checks, and the occasional RLD spell.

Appearance:
Prometheus appears as a towering and lean figure, much like most warforged, but with notable differences. His once purple plating is now a flat black with gold accents, and appearing to be much more like humanoid armour. His arms are covered in small, luminous arcane glyphs for suppression, while his shoulders bear the numerals "XIII", his home legion. His chest would look like a sculpted breastplate, with useless broken golden chains hanging off assorted places.

His head is more that of an old style finless Hopelite helmet, with a standard 'forged mouth, and eyes of a dark purple. When in combat he opens his mouth, revealing a gaping maw of adamantine laced fangs.

Background:

Around three centuries ago the Tinkers began the development of the Empire's new servants and soldiers: the warforged. Initially their first attempts were failures; being little more than golems, incapable of of independent thought. Their next attempt was to make one that not only could think for itself and communicate effectively with humans. To their misfortune, they succeeded TOO well. The first of the new batch was called the WFT-01 Warforged Unit 01 Test Type, codenamed Prometheus. Upon activation it was evident that he was intelligent as he easily tracked their test instruments and completed testing easily. Unfortunately, for some reason that only the testers and soldiers knew, Prometheus broke free of his restraints and became a berserker an began attacking everything in sight.

The battle was swift, brutal and bloody. Within a minute Prometheus had killed two Tinkers and their apprentice, plus the six Legionaires on site. The apprentice, just before he was beated and rent with fangs managed to hit the the lab panic button, which activated a Magic Mouth spell in the local guardhouse. Within moments the Angel on duty arrived and fought to put him down. While his mighty adamantine plating withstood one cross-flare, it did not withstand another and he was quickly deactivated.

This incident scared the Tinkers and the Senate considerably, so the next batches alternated between acting more human or golemlike, as evidenced by the newest model "Emily". The Tinkers eventually decided to take a second look at Prometheus about six years ago, thinking they could help the recovered development costs, decided to salvage Prometheus. This time they took no chances on his reactivation: magically reinforced adamantine restraints and a wall of force surrounded protected the workers and Tinkers. Eventually, using advanced abjuration seals and glyphs they managed to restrain the uncontrollable rage and fury inside him, allowing his more peaceful and sociable side to emerge. As it turned out, the real Prometheus was a friendly and very sociable warforged with a gift for baking and armour smithing. After it was proved he wasn't a threat to anyone who didn't provoke him, they began to train him formally as a soldier of the Empire. Over the years he proved himself to be responsible enough to be allowed to temporarily tap into his powerful rage in battle by releasing some of his elaborate glyphs, this ability often pulling him and his fellow soldiers out of otherwise hopeless fights.

Currently, Prometheus serves the Empire as a member of XIII Legion as a part of the Auxilia (Special Troops) and is now between deployments.

Anyway, what do y'all think? I personally feel that unlike golems which use bound elementals, or warforged using human souls, I feel they used a bound demon for his power source. Because of that he went berserk initially, and his control personality has nearly worn away, leaving his dark nature exposed. This, I think, is why one should stick to less corruptible power sources in contructs.

<Prometheus> Yes, flee pathetic humans. FLEE BEFORE THE SOUND OF MY METAL BODY! *KNOW* THAT AS YOU HATH WROUGHT US, THAT YOU SHALL IN TURN BE UNDONE!

<Prometheus> *kneels in front of a dieing cultist* I have a request of you, human, before you meet your 'god'...Tell Ares that *if* by some chance I go to the afterlife instead of oblivion...THAT HE MUST PREPARE TO BE REPLACED BY PROMETHEUS, LORD OF WAR AND PAIN!

Yes, Prommy is not a very nice man...But he bakes a delicious apple pie, just ask anyone....But please, don't refuse the cookies. You don't want to get him angry.

Sounds like an interesting character.

Ive always wanted to play a warforged that didnt have the traditional warforged background (ie: made for the last war, in an ebberon setting)

Have fun with him.

Prometheus isn't named after the robot from Chrono Trigger, is he?

Never played that game actually, much to the ire of my friends. Named him after the mythical figure, mainly for the symmetry of being bound by the powers that be. Of course, now the name has a delicious sense of irony given that the original Prometheus was imprisoned for helping humanity, while this Prometheus was imprisoned for attempting to destroy it.

Good lord. I wish to fight alongside this scourge, if only to cackle insanely at the gore.

And possibly offer him some high-quality baking ingredients.

So last week we defeat a rather large bandit king in the land of the rising sun. After we loot the camp and his body we decide to head back to port and what not. Upon reaching the outer border of the village we hear a Mysterious Voice saying that it cannot allow the two adventures with evil in their hearts to advance...

...Prometheus was not impressed, as you can probably imagine. He then keeps walking, ignoring her until she appears to fight. She asks us to surrender, blah blah blah, we decide thems fighting words.

<Prometheus> *runs forward and grabs the sword possessed young woman by the neck in his vice-like grip. He then proceeds to open his maw of fangs and laughs.* You believe you *KNOW* true evil, little fool? IT IS TIME YOU GAZE INTO THE ABYSS! COME, LET ME SHOW YOU!

and what a surprise (not), she, like every other female NPC made by the DM is protected by impenetrable Plot Armour and is thus invincible. Thus, I didn't get to eat her face, which makes me sad.

Well, when I reach level 9 I'll have him get Multiattack (to boost his bite's attack by +3) and Natural Attack (Yay 1d8 damage), which makes me I'll have it manifest as a second row of jagged teeth.

Also, thank you for enjoying his acts of violence and baking supplies. He and I try to please. ^_^

Also, for a long time his theme song as been Manowar's "Hail and Kill", due to it's sheer awesomeness.

Link here: http://www.lyricsdepot.com/manowar/hail-and-kill.html

And while cliche, I do feel that Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" fits him, lyric wise.

Now the time is here
For iron man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved

Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge

Heavy boots of lead
Fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron man lives again!

I *hate* that stuff.

Plot Weapons are even worse though, they never seem to miss...:nonono:

So the other day I got bored and decided to do a recording of Prometheus. The result is this: http://rapidshare.com/files/51566233/Bread.mp3

On a related note, I used Prommy as a fill-in for Tomb of Horrors this weekend. Much like Belkar, he was shocked when the red, murderous haze was removed from his mind. Only in his case, it was permenant due to an alignment change trap that moved him from NE to NG. Sadly, he died by my hand in the final battle shortly after his epiphany.

It sounds like he's Emperor Palapatine with a throat cold.
