| dexdynamo12-10-03, 07:49 PM | I'm making a campaign in which there's no FX, no arcana, and nothing else out of the ordinary, right? Well, hen I was brainstorming ideas, one of them was "A psion appears, and steadily starts growing in power, at the cost of his sanity. He doesn't know how he got these powers, and, as he starts going nuts, he starts killing people. It's the PC's job to find out how he got these powers, and to stop him." Only problem is, I've no idea on how he got them. Any suggestions? |

He is part alien He is all alien He is from the future He is from the distant past He was struck by lighting He was bitten by radioactive spider He was fixing a particle accelerator when it accidently went off (or was struck by lighting or whatever) He is a new military secret weapon He is part of a secret breading experiment and has escaped/outgrown the controll of his keepers. That should get you started. |

What if the only different between a human and an amoeba, was the amount of access they had to this fundamental power? What if an amoeba was suddenly given the power or thoughts of a man? What if a man was suddenly given the power of a god? Of course as to what initially started him along this road to human godhood is up to you, I like th idea of a mutation, maybe he's a devout follower of a religion which tells of the incarnation of a messiah. Hell maybe he was struck in the head as a child which lead to schizophrenia and delusional hallucinations. Over a life time maybe his insanity increased to such a point where reality and hallucination have merged for him, allowing him to manifest his will on the world. Would also be interesting as he'd be his own most dangerous enemy. |

Perhaps something like the "Mutant" in the first (maybe second, not sure) book of Asimov's series, or perhaps similar to someone in the second foundation, trained in bodily control so well they can project thoughts, read minds, etc. |
