| kuhTHOOloo05-27-05, 11:34 PM | I need help on my Psychic Warrior's backstory. I have some of the stuff figured out, but I'm not sure how to work in how he got his psionic powers. His name is Alastor Grey, he grew up on a farm on the border between the human nation Amakiiria and a forest mostly inhabited by elves. His mother died in childbirth, and his father died when he was 17. After his father's death, Alastor sold the homestead and took up the life of a merchant, trading goods between the humans and elves, gaining many valuable contacts that he will most likely use later in his life. Spending a lot of time with the elves, he picked up their language and even learned how some fighting techniques that the Lailaithian Elves specialized in, using two sickles to great effect. Now, with that I have his family and profession history, and how he developed his fighterishness. How would I add in the psionicness? |

How about... a traumatic events unhinged some buried memories of when he was very young, he could hear and see his father in a room two floors down, and he was able to move small pebbles with his raw untapped mind, yet to the young boy it seemed totally natural and completly ordinary, ergo it went unnoticed to his father. But after a while the powers receded as do most things that go untrained, but now, suddenly he comes into his psychic being, he is aware once again, although slightly frightened he feels alive with this new smoldering inner fire, he eagerly plunges headlong into the path of the adventure, determined to seek out the nature of this strange new power....and to master it. |
| Amalric05-29-05, 01:21 PM | How about this: Alastor had a great many dealings with the elves, but the most fateful meeting was with a strange old elf in a roadside tavern. Some human rowdies began to hassle the defenseless-seeming elf, and Alastor juped to his defense. The old man watched as Alastor used his wits and his reflexes to fend off three attackers at once. After the fight was over, the elf revealed himself as Khai'rah, the famous blademaster. He invited Alastor to train at his school for a time. Mystified and more than a little curious, Alastor agreed. He followed Master Khai'rah back to the man's school of swordplay, and for over a year he trained in the martial arts of the elves. But as he trained with his elven companions, Alastor soon began to notice something... different about himself. At first, he thought he was just following the teachings of Khai'rah, who often told him to "become one with the blade" and "feel the power within you." However, when he began to manifest his powers during sparring matches, it soon became clear that this power of his was unknown even to the elven master. He trained there for months more, but soon became restless. Part of it was his human impatience; he simply didn't have decades upon decades to meditate on the art of war. Part of it was his strange powers; they disturbed and excited him, and he wanted to learn where they came from, and whether there might be others with abilities like his own. Khai'rah, venerable as he was, knew well the hearts of humans, and he bade Alastor to go forth with his blessing. |
