Any ideas for a pyro sorcerer? I'm thinking about buyin a ton of tindertwigs and candles.`Thinking he'll have the candles strapped diagonally across his chest (military-esque). Plenty of oil too (just gotta keep him away from fire/fireballs =P)

Edit: Lol my signatures says this is a bad idea but anyway.....

What are you looking for, specifically? Why he would be a pyro sorcerer? How to build the image?

I'm looking more to get help on ideas as to WHY he's a pyromaniac, what caused him to be that way. Also, any ideas on image would be apreciated...

Thanks!:D

Fairly simple...I imagine lots of red clothes, fire emblems adorning his clothes, or even tattoos on his body. If you wanted to go the whole route, give him red hair as well. If he carries a staff, have the top of it be in the shape of a fireball, with the tail winding down the length of the shaft.

As for reasons why, how about this...when he was very young, he saw his families barn, or house, or something catch on fire, and he was so awed with the sight, that it stuck in his brain, and when he found out that he could magically create fire from his fingertips, well, the party's just started. If he's evil, maybe he burned his village down on purpose and fled. Perhaps he burnt something down by accident and wants to escape his past, or he left to adventure in an attempt to learn to control his power, and prevent harming the ones he loved.

Good! I like it! Acctually I was thinking about having him style his hair in a sort of wavy red spikes, similar to flames...

I was trying to think of something more than "he saw fire, he liked it"

maybe fire saved his life? like trapped in a blizzard, freezing to death, something like that?

I like the hair idea, though you want to be careful that you're not going into over-the-top stereotype mode, unless that's what you're aiming for.

The saved by fire is a good idea, but think logically...when you're caught anywhere cold, fire and warmth are the first two things anyone thinks of, and thats not necessarily enough to cause one to go all pyromantic. Maybe he got lost, and all that saved him from a rampaging monster or a group of orcs was a well timed lightning bolt to a tree, or something blaze related. He could start thinking that fire is the ultimate tool, or equalizer, something that even powerful beings can be afraid of, and if he can master fire, perhaps he can master them too

Hmmmm.... That's good....

I guess your right about going over the top...but maybe some flame tatoos...

I don't real think he's looking for the power that comes from fire

I'm trying to think how he would have some deeper attachment to it....

If you make him half red dragon, red dragon bloodline, etc. to make him fireproof or at least relisient he can wade through fire (and look cool doing it. Forget the tinderwigs, you need a little more power. Alchemist's fire, make-shift molitov coctails (maybe with latern oil to save money/beer), wands of fireball, something to let you use produce flame, etc. I once thought up a half red dragon kobold that would bathe the entire room in flame, walking through it as if it wasn't even there.

Since you're a sorc, you can take the Energy Substitution feat at 3rd level (the prerequisite is 5 ranks in Knowledge: Arcana)

What it does is substitutes the normal energy descriptor of a spell (i.e. ice, acid, sonic) and replaces it with an energy type of your choosing (fire). It doesn't take higher slots to prepare it this way.

This way, you can fling magic missiles made of fire, Melf's Firey Missiles, etc.

Edit: It's from Complete Arcane.

watch firestarter go from there :P

seriously I would imagine that his fascination with fire start from his own ablity to manipulate it.

Remember that this is still medevil time fire is a very mystical and important force in every ones life. Without out fire you get voted off the island..... eh I mean without fire you can not stay warm or eat. Fire is still central to everyones life. So when he learn that he was able to manipulated this force of nature it would have been a mystical/religious experence in his life.

I would play him as almost a worshipper of fire. In fact if you can come up with a decent fire god stick him in. I mean every one has that line for deity not just clerics and paladins. :)

I had this idea before.

All you need is:

1) Immunity to fire (half dragon or elemental)

2) A metal rod

3) Cast Continual Flame on the rod

4) Pay someone or do it yourself, cast permanency.

Product= Rod of Everburning Flame Have fun:D

continual flame doesn't give off heat. There are some races of the dragon things that can let you breath fire.

Okay, are you playing with the DM as a Forgotten Realms campaign, an Eberron campaign or a homebrew campaign?

The reason I ask this is because I figure if you're playing Eberron, if you want to, you could make another choice to make that I think would sound interesting:

Make him/her as a sorc/cleric of Onatar/mystic theurge with the domains of Fire and either Artifice or Good; not only that, but you can also carry a kickass hammer as a weapon. You could say that you were interested in fire due to being related to a forger and you felt a connection to Onatar due to fire. I believe that this should work also if you become a cleric of the Sovereign Host (just choose domain Fire and anything else).

Maybe that can work for you, or do you simply want a Sorcerer and no more?

Yeah I know about the Continual Flame thing my bad. I remember we just cast a 2nd edition spell called flame and thats why we needed permanancy.
