Hello all.

I am currently developing a bizzarre character named Bats Kabethni. His general build will be Human Totemist 6/Rogue 10/Necrocarnate 4.

Bats is a freak. He has Abberration Blood and Scavenging Gullet (allowing him to gain sustanence from ANY organic material, no matter how fresh). Bats likes to eat stuff. Any stuff. He likes to taste a variety of things. Gross things. He uses the Girallon Arms and tears into enemies with natural attacks, then eats some of the corpse. The dip into Necrocarnum comes from his desire to devour something few others can: soul energy.

So, basically, Bats is driven a quite a bit by hunger, but he is not evil to the core (despite his alignment gravitating toward CE). He can be quite playful: enjoys playing his fiddle, dancing, tricking people, etc.

I come to the boards for some ideas on what sort of personality ticks and quirks I should incorporate into such a character. I want him to genuinly come off as "freaky". Oh, and his clothing attire is often an over-sized pancho (to hide is 4 arms and other qualities) and a wide-brimmed hat, both of which are a deep grey. Any other RP related suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thinks that eating things like that is a normal part of life and often offers bits of things he's eating out to comrades and gets offended when they decline. I dunno about you, but i'd be a bit freaked if a friend started tearing into a wolf he just killed then offered me a bit of it's rib uncooked and still bloodied, then got offended by me almost throwing up.

He could also have extremely polite table manners, i.e. has a napkin and knife and fork that he carries round with him and eats things neatly, as well as always taking people to take their elbows off the table and saying how rude it is.

Hah, I love the idea of offering partymates "snacks" and etc, then getting offended when they refuse.

How about, after killing an enemy of some sort, he could hack off a single limb, and gnaw on it as the party continues to walk. Then, when finished, pick his teeth with the bones and etc.

Let's keep em coming.

Oh, his favorite tune on his fiddle is 'Run' from the Ravenous Soundtrack.

Hi Lanoitakude,

Is your Character likely to be Cooking meals for the Party of heroes you are with? You know where this is going. I had a vision of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, do you remember the eyeball soup, snake surprise and monkey brains. You could cook up exotic meals for your comrades and not tell them what is in it, till later.

Even an exotic meals cook book could be fun, you could read aloud the ingredients to the rest of your group while you walk to the next encounter (be really disgusting).

Hope this was helpful. You really have a think for dark characters Lanoitakude, lol.

How about having him frequently drag corpses of slain enemies around, even into towns, taking a few bites whenever he feels like it, and debating loudly with himself as to whether or not the particular corpse had a soul?
Perhaps make him Chaotic Nuetral rather than evil (since he can be playful.)
If a PC goes off to the bathroom have him wonder loudly to himself why he's never thought to taste excrement before, then as an afterthought ask the other PC to save some for him.
One night while sitting in a tavern have him get impatient, loudly debate with himself whether or not he should get himself some food, and then start chowing down... on the table that he's sitting at, giving his allies a running commentary on just how it tastes.
When the party acquires a new magic item, have your character squabble over it, with the intention of actually trying to eat the item.

The whole eating thing, while weird, doesn't really give you much to work with, but there it is... all twisted crap I can think of.

Hello, Prom! Ya, I do tend to think of more villanous characters, in general. I'm often the DM for my group, so I guess I'm stuck in "villain development mode".

Anywho...

Ya, I remember that scene from Temple of Doom, very gross indeed.

Being the party cook would be awesome, I'm definately going to have to put ranks in Profession (cook)!

I like the idea of an exotic cook book, I think Bats should be trying to write one. He would always be reading aloud his most recent entries and what-not.

I also like the idea of him tasting new things all the time, even magic items and etc the party gets.

Sadly, he has to be [Evil] to qualify for Necrocarnate, but he wouldn't be taking levels in that class 'till around lvl 10, so I'm going to have him start out at CN, and sort of shift a little bit as he gets more powerful.

There is a scene from the film Ravenous that comes to mind. It is when the characters and Calhoon(sp?) are travelling to the infamous cave, and the preacher has been wounded. In the middle of the night, they catch Calhoon licking the wound of the preacher! Very unsettling, indeed.

If you haven't noticed yet, this character is loosely based on the antagonist of that film (appearance and all).

Good stuff.

How about licking enemies during combat, so no-one else will take them?

Hi Aaarrrgh,

LOL
I am still laughing from that suggestion, very fun. Will licking enemies during combat provoke attacks of opportunity? I don't see it in the PHB.
