Raeus of the House Omar (human Rogue -1) [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-01-07, 10:40 PM I am about to start my first campaign in about five years this is what I came up with.

Age: 17 Human Rogue lvl-1 CG

Born the fifth son of the Duke of Omar, Raeus comes from a noble and wealthy family. The Duke owns a sizable amount of land and a fortified estate near the in the foothills near (DM pick city). Being the fifth son Raeus had little chance of becoming the heir and acquiring the keep, but like all noble children received a formal education. Although he did well enough in his lesson, he was more interested in spending time with Guthford Ascillion, the Duke's most trusted bodyguard, than sitting in classes.
Guthford told tales of adventure, intrigue, death and glory. Raeus was taught some basic sword fighting from old bodyguard, but was of too lean a build to ever hope for a military command in his father's forces. As he reached age seventeen time was coming to make some decisions. He was expected to become some sort of royal functionary, or possibly make himself into prosperous businessman. Dreading a future of 'being ordinary' Raeus decided he would leave the security of home and make a name for himself, one way or another.

Suggestions, Comments, and Expansion on my idea are all welcome : )

10-04-07, 01:33 AM Not bad. I'd give a little more on family relations, in particular with his brothers, and a touch more to define his personality. Might work nicely if he had a better defined role model. Give Guthford at least one major accomplishment (probably the one that landed him his current position). That way your character has something direct to measure himself up to.

I agree with Terjon, there is a lot of possible flavor in the relationships with your character's brothers. Is your character the baby of the family, always looked out for? Is Raeus the 'opps' or forgotten child, made harder by being ignored as a child. Does Raeus have a sister that helps him get out of trouble?

Is Raeus a thief or a rogue?
Does Raeus have aspirations?

10-05-07, 12:48 AM Thanks for the input. Unfortunately my DM turned down the idea and has changed the campaign to Eberron I posted a new character bio, using some of your ideas in the character design.
