| Drizztrocks02-27-08, 08:52 PM | Quolomin Joysword, an elf with a bright future, was training to be a warrior. He had been practicing for twenty years, though still considered a child. Once he had sneaked out of his wood-elf city off into the night to hunt in the forest, even though hunting was illegal so close to the elven city. The young elf had a fine hunt, but when he returned to his village, he found it over run and being burnt down by orcs. The orcs slaughtered the elves mercilisely, killing all those Quolomin once loved and knew. In denial he fled to woods near to human lands, rearing himself in the ways of the wild and becoming a fairly-succsesful ranger. Concealing himself and his name, he renamed himself Vineleaf. He still hunts orcs for the joy of the hunt to this day, showing them just about as much mercy as they showed his kin. Staying close to human lands and performing heroic acts of bravery and athletics, but always fanishing back into the forest. The humans and dwarves in the area know him only as Rising Hawk, a renegade elf. He is fairly popular, but the kings and nobles of the lands beleive little of it. Quolomin is called Rising Hawk because of his tendancy to attack enimies by leaping out of trees far into the air, and then falling down upon them. He is always protecting the human villages from bandits, orcs, giants and goblins, but does not take sides when they decide to war with eachother. Quolomin thouroughly respects half-orcs that have become something more then ferril beasts, those half-orcs who try to right their wrongs and fight for good. He sees those who maintain their evil ways as no better then their kin, however, and slays them as soon as he discovers their motives. Quolomin Joysword, the cheary young merry fighter is dead-Vineleaf Rising Hawk, the grim ranger has taken his place. My character is a level 2swashbuckler/1ranger. I have pretty much kept with this story line for a long time, but comments or friendly critisism would be great! Please comment!:) |

After all orcs aren't really subtle and elves (or any other race with ears or eyes) generally know they are coming with a fair amount of warning. Beyond that it's not half bad. Perhaps instead of a wholesale slaughter of his village the first time he sneaks off you go with something else? Say he sneaks off on a regular basis,, always travelling far from the city as he can go and return in only a few days travel. He loves hunting but cannot do so near the elven city and one day, far from the city reaches, he is shot by an orc-arrow. He manages to drive the orc off with a few well placed shots of his own but knows full weel the orc will return to finish him... likely with friends. He travels through the woods and hides. At first he hides hoping for rescue and then, as he begins to heal, with thoughts of returning that orc his arrow. Hunting he finds band that orc-scout came from and lays waste to them. He shoots arrows into their campfires, spreading flame throughout the encampment and then hunts down the confused beasts. He takes wounds of his own but single-handedly defeats the small band of orcs with a combination of wit, stealth, and swordplay, leaping from the trees and taking them down one by one. When he is done he realizes that he has no real desire to return home. He loved the thrill of battling the orcs and so remains, alone in the woods, as a pure hunter. |
