| Shadowdogg11-15-04, 05:28 PM | Just getting back into the game and am working with the players handbook only right now.....no I am not the DM, hehe. But my question is is this a good combo for the beggining of the chr development? I am looking for the character to be a tracker type adventurer of sorts....what do u all think? |
| TheFear11-15-04, 07:05 PM | Hi Not sure I can lay things out for you but I'm curently playing a Rogue 1/Ranger 6/Horizon Walker 1. Archery specialist, high dex, Humans as favoured enemy. Quite a nice combo, as our group has no ranged combat people (many, many fine combat monkeys though). I've maxed out Hide, MS, Spot, Listen, etc. I'm playing him very much as a scout. I've only just started him at L7, so not had much time to work out details. Currently he is very solitary and untrusting. Other people need to earn his respect and he's very suspicious of motives. A bit basic, I admit. The easiest way to describe him is pragmatic. Very solution-oriented and pratical. The idea behind it that surviving in the wild, etc is very difficult and you shouldn't stand on ceremony or let prejudices get in the way of essentials. Having said that, it's still a bit of a bland idea. Backstory is a bit weak, I must admit, but I prefer to work these things out on the fly. In game, he's developing a respect for an odd party member (Cloistered Cleric3/Wizard3/Mystic Theurge2). He's a Cleric of Fharlanagagangaggagaghoweveryouspellhisn ame. Not been out of his monastery much (been writing travel books, apparently) but seems enourmously willing to get stuck in and just see what goes on. Despite our collection of L10 Rogues and enormous half-orc barbarians, the feeble cleric/wizard is the one who's recently been into a planar vortex (on the end of a rope), explored a small island in the middle of a lake (inhabited by an aboleth) and is currently planning a nine round sprint into an area of Negative Energy Dominance to retrieve a vital bit of plot gubbinry. He's a spindly nerd who's never been out of the church before but he's gungho as anything. Not sure if the above is of any help, but good luck :) The Fear PS. Excuse any spelling mistakes. Whisky. |
