My character Token Ebonhand 1/2 drow elven fighter started his life in captivity. His parents a drow elf and a human female cocubine were enslaved by a mad red wizard of Thay. So he believed. The story goes, his "father" was a secret partner in the experiment. The wizard wished to know if the powers of a drow would be passed down to their non-drow offspring. So the wizard found a comely woman of small wizardly talent(an apprentice) and coerced her into conceiving a child with the drow. Unknown to the drow the wizard had other plans, he charmed the drow into "fathering" serveral other children as well.
After a few years had passed and the children were old enough to begin training, the wizard tested the younglings in various ways to determine their strengths and weakness. Token and his brothers and sisters didn't know they were siblings, each thought the other was an apprentice to the mage. Many of the children didn't survive the training let alone the testings. Magic, weaponary skills and stealth were the primary qualifications the wizard was looking for. Token excelled at weapons and stealth, he failed at the magic which infuriated the wizard.
Before the experiment was completed, the wizard met with an untimely end (he was killed by a rival). Lost without their master/keeper, the drowlings ramsacked the lab and found his journal/notes. Upon reading this they each followed the notes left on their 'parents' and went looking for them. Nothing was ever heard from his siblings again. Taking his mother's journals and personal belongings he left in search of her.
Ten years later, he found her remains in a shallow grave in the Dalelands(I like FR). He tracked down her husband and presented him with her belongings. The man almost attacked him at first sight until he saw his wifes' name upon the book. After days of reading, he gave Token her journal and a small painting of her to remember her by. As Token read, he discovered the name of his true father and vowed to track him down as well. Refusing offers to stay and be part of the family(they had raise two children of their own), he began his journey to find his father. Ever since then he has been searching to no avail.

Please any comments or improvements I could make would be appreciated, Thanks for your time in reading my post.

Thats actually a pretty cool background, definetly origional (or at least i havent heard something like it before)

The whole quest to look for his family is a pretty cool idea. I like it, give us some more info on him, expand a bit.

Great story, but it might be more dramatic (though less realistic) if the mad Red Wizard was killed by the half-drow children after they discovered his plans and experiments. How? I don't know, maybe they pushed him down the stairs...

Or maybe he's still alive, plotting to get revenge on the children, and that's why Token hasn't heard from any of his siblings. Now Token's the only one left, and the Red Wizard wants revenge.

If you use the second one, make sure to talk to your DM. Make sure he's willing to help play out the encounter with the Wizard. Also, give the wizard, and the two parents names.

Over all, fantastic! Creative and orginal. It would be great even if you didn't change anything!
