Really! They took me into the forest and had drunken revelries! [Archive] - Wizards Community

Poor, crazy old Ghevin. Nobody knows where he went for so long, but he does have the most wonderful stories!

Ghevin was a bright and attractive young lad, especially considering he was a dwarf, but he was lazy and a bit "off". He would spend his days wandering around in the woods, rarely making anything with his hands or learning how to whisper to the stones. One day he never came back.

Ghevin was about 30 when he went missing. His family searched for years and never found a body or any inidication where he had gone to. Even the elven rangers couldn't track him past the river.

It was 15 decades later when an elderly Ghevin walked out of the forest wearing nothing but woven leaves smelling strongly of berries and musk. No one knew who he was or where he'd come from. His family had long ago given up hope and moved to the "Deep South". Ghevin was alone and slightly crazed, spouting stories of being "abducted by fairies".

His stories include drunken parties with satyr and nymphs and other more risque events including the birth of a son.

Ghevin is searching for family. His son, his parents, his brothers and sisters; he doesn't know where any of them are, and he doesn't know what happened to the fey family he'd come to know. To him it has been a short year or two, but it has been 150 years in the real world. They left him after a particularly raucous night of drinking he woke on the shores of a forest river. He has aged as if he'd been around for 180 years, but he's just starting his adventuring life. Nobody believes him about his abduction. Everybody knows fairies aren't real!

Thoughts?

As a Dwarf, his siblings are probably still alive, and his parents may be as well. Dwarves tend toward Lawful, so if his family lived in a Dwarven settlement, there may be records in the town hall that indicate where they went.

Incidentally, if this is one of the normal D&D settings (Greyhawk, Faerun, Eberron, etc), I don't think anyone would disbelieve his story on the grounds that fairies aren't real...

If its Ebberon its actually a fairly common story. He just accidently wandered through a manifest zone of Thellanis.

Ah, but it isn't a standard setting. Guess I should have said that. :P It's just a temporary generic setting until we get sucked into Planescape.

Looks good. I think this dwarf will have some serious psychological problems. If that's what you want to play, go right ahead. You can focus on:

Your dwarf could become frustrated with the dwarven community he's living in and start vandalizing the community. He might even become paranoid if nobody turns by.
Your dwarf could become phobic about trees and forests as they have taken away 168 years of his life.
Your dwarf might have some problems with himself. What's real? If everybody says that faeries don't exist, perhaps they actually don't exist. After all, if it wasn't for his experience, he would think the same.
