| leather_book_wizard11-27-06, 07:26 PM | Ok, I'm playing a Lawful Neutral Elf Wizard and my friend is playing a CG Half-Elf Bard. The problem is, my char sees chaos as a destructive force that will bring about the downfall of society. I was looking for some reasons they might be travelling together. |
| leather_book_wizard11-27-06, 07:45 PM | Anyone? |
| HaikenEdge11-27-06, 07:50 PM | Elf and Half-Elf? Maybe parent and child? |
| leather_book_wizard11-27-06, 07:55 PM | No, I thought of that and asked my friend and he said no. If it helps our party may also include a fighter or barbarian. |
| Hellomoto6411-27-06, 08:04 PM | to keep each other occupied?(bards can play music).... |
| leather_book_wizard11-27-06, 08:14 PM | Lol. That doesn't help me. I doubt my char would join with a chaotic just to keep himself occupied. He hates chaos. All kinds of it. |
| Carey Z W11-27-06, 08:24 PM | Is the bard obviously chaotic? f he doesn't do anything chaotic things around your wizard, you should never know. |
| leather_book_wizard11-27-06, 08:28 PM | I don't know,you see we haven't played very much with these chars yet.But your right.Thanks. |
| Gorillastyle11-27-06, 11:02 PM | You would probably be older than the half-elf bard? He/she could be your Half-sibling... Your Cousin... or Your Ward... You could have been entrusted with the bard's saftey, education, etc... You could have been charged with keeping an eye on her/him, since they are often getting into trouble with the law. Or you could just be friends. It's possible to have friends who have different viewpoints... as long as you don't really push the limits of your alignments in opposite directions you should be fine with that if it works. People often have soft spots for family and friends and often put up with variances in such matters. You could be simply using the bard for his/her abilities. Strictly a business relationship. or perhaps you are studying the effects of the chaotic lifestyle for research - the way one studies a mentally ill person. Plue if you really dislike chaos that much, you'd probably like having someone to test all of your anti-chaos spells on handy. |
| Clockwork_Apparition11-28-06, 01:40 AM | Your character could just view the bard as a naive fool that places too much trust in the individual to do right of their own accord. The difference between those that favor larger governmental/organizational systems (lawful) and smaller systems with more personal freedom to choose actions (chaotic). You could just dominate him. Mind Fog + Dominate Person = No Problem :D |
| cthascott11-28-06, 02:17 AM | You need someone to chronical your great deeds. |
| Kitaki11-28-06, 08:24 AM | Childhood friend? As much as the bard is disruptive, he is still your friend. We've all had that friend that was just weird and random, but they are/were still your friend. |
| Milithor11-28-06, 02:32 PM | Just on a side note, try not to follow the alignment descriptions to a T. Lawful can also mean that you are loyal and true to your word. Just don't push your alignment to the extreme. Alignment are more of a guild lines than a code so this means your Alignment does not define your character as a whole, his history and actions do. |
| Reversefigure411-28-06, 05:45 PM | The Bard has saved your life at some point. You hope to repay your debt by by showing him the error of his ways. He's not a bad person, and you kinda like him, he's just... misguided. Must be the combination of his blood. It's not his fault. You'll show him a good example and a better way. (Little beknown to you, the Bard thinks you are a good guy, but a bit of a stiff. He's hoping to show you the freedom of Chaos and get you to loosen up). |
| leather_book_wizard11-28-06, 08:22 PM | Those are all extremely good ideas. |
| Khurgan12-01-06, 09:31 AM | Tha Bard's decided to tag along with the Wizard for a while partly beacuse s/he's interested in what makes Wizards tick, partly as s/he's heard a little about the Wizard (and there might be a good story or song in it) and partly as it so obviously annoys the Wizard - Imagine Star Trek Voyager's Tuvok (as the LN Elf Wizard) and Neelix (as the CG bard). I always thought they had a great relationship going - Neelix was genuinely fascinated with what made Tuvok tick and Tuvok had a barely concealed annoyance with Neelix. Have the Bard call the Wizard "Mr. Wizard" or 'Ms Mage" or "Mr Elf" or something. The wizard should put up with the bard's caperings as s/he could be interested in trying to explain that the world isn't always 'black and white' and the only stability can come from an ordered (Lawful) society - wandering around aimlessly (like the Bard) can only cause trouble to the wanderer and those s/he comes into contact with - hence the Wizard's (sub)conscious desire to keep the Bard out of trouble - not for the Bard's sake but for everyone else's... |
