Hello, I am creating a new character to fit better in the evil campaign. The party just got sent to the prison plane ( for unmotivated massacre around town ), carceri and will meet my character there. He will be a cleric of vecna going for fleshwarper PrC( LoM ). Any ideas on what could have banned my character to this plane, as the party will undoubtly ask this. I can think up some things myself but input would be welcome, so I can choose the best reason.

Thanks in advance.

You're a cleric of Vecna. Secrets are sort of your thing. I wouldn't tell them anything.

But, if I were to tell them something, it would have to do with secrets, either telling or keeping them.

You refused to tell a patron diety of the plane of prison something he wanted to know. He punished you by sending you there.

You refused to sell a worshipper of the patron plane of deity something he wanted to know. He asked the worshippers of the plane to send you there.

A king of a town asked you reveal a scret about one of his ssubjects, (Affair by the Queen perhaps?) And when you refused, he as punishment had you jailed.

All the above are good lies to use for your cover... but your about keeping secrets remember.

So why not make it that your character actually chose to go to the prision (manipulated it so that he was inprisioned) to either learn a secret that someone else (or he/she) wanted OR to stop another secret from being learned.

Just a thought.
