'lo there
my old Party more or less kicked the bucket and now i'm planing on joining the group of my old DM and another Player, who'll be first time DMing.
so far, so good...
but what to play?
i always wanted to really play a psionic, but the DM is new to that job and hasn't played that much D&D at all either so all he allows are Corebooks
meaning DMG, PHB, MM and FRCS, that's all
Rules are 3.5
Setting are the FR

and now i have no idea what Character to make
I already played Druids, Fighters, Rogues and Wizards, also a bit of a Cleric
Paladins and Monks i don't really like much
Races I played so far are Halflings, Humans and a Dwarf shortly

any nice character idea (prestige classes too) would be really helpfull

hope this is the right place to post this
thanks a lot already

Could always go for an Arcane Caster-type, in FR they are pretty well accepted so the DM shouldn't have too much trouble working you in without the "omg creepy!" factor.

Wild-elf barbarians are fun,

hehe, it has nothing to do with "creepy" just he's all new to mastering D&D and wants core only... sadly

maybe a Fighter/Barbarian mix

Make a human cleric of Tyr... Large barrel chested guy walking around in plate engraved with Tyr's symbol... nice big shiny longsword... gathering followers (have a high Cha) and working towards building a church... That is the perfect setting for a blood and prayer cleric...I love FR. (we mostly play in Eberron)

Give yourself a nice long name something like "Rowan Kelton, Emissary of Tyr, and Cleanser of the Elf Blood Pox." Spout Gospel almost everywhere you go, and council the townspeople to, 'tell you their pains'...

but I digress... that was one of my favorite characters though....

now i nailed it down to a few ideas

Fighter, Fighter/Barbarian or Human Druid
but are there even any good feats, spells and such in core for druids?

Feats? Natural Spell. After that, it doesn't really matter. Spell Focus (Conjuration) + Augment Summoning is popular, as are most metamagic feats. You might ask if the DM will let you take Multiattack and only use it when Wild Shaped into something that qualifies. Same for Power Attack. Improved Unarmed Strike + Improved Grapple can be fun, with such Wild Shape options as the dire bear, tyrannosaurus, and tendriculos. (Improved Unarmed Strike even lets you take a full attack of unarmed strikes, then make secondary attacks with all your natural weapons. Commonly referred to as the Kung-Fu Grizzly.)

Spells? Focus on buffs and battlefield control. Maybe your best Cure spell for emergencies. Even if you plan to do a lot of summoning, buffs are fun. Summon Nature's Ally followed up by Animal Growth can be brutal.

now that all sound like nice ideas

hope one of the other guys will make a cleric, even less reasons for healing then :D
