So this campaign is set in Faerun and I have a sun elf who happens to be a wizard and is around 118 years old. Normally that is not allowed since a wizard needs 10 years minimum added to their starting age, but the DM let me have an exception due to my arrogant and curious personality. However, now the DM has criticized my roleplaying by saying my wizard acts like an old man. He says I'm always benevolent and acts like I know everything, and that I should "crack" some jokes. I didn't really listen to his advice because I find it difficult to picture a 'young' wizard. Tell me, how should I roleplay his young behaviours? My wizard is a serious type, very greedy, and tends to be very book smart but sometimes 'out there'. His alignment is CN, if that helps. Thanks for any replies.

Your elf is 118 years old, but he still have thousands of years to live, if he's not killed by some stupid goblins. He should take all the time he could to complete a mission.
As a "young" mage (only 118!) he could have max ranks in many knowledge skills, but he could be not so good in social things. Once he meets a beautiful lady, have him lose all his control. You could also have him try to smoke some strange herbs, and have him become addicted.

He does a lot of jokes, teases people, checks out the girls, and attempts but never succeeds with the girls that he finds attractive.
Think high school. This is what any male kid goes through, almost any kid.
If the mage is a female, same thing except she checks out and tries to succeed with boys instead.
We have a lot of teeny-bopper shows on TV that has a lot of teen attitude.
Look at the early seasons of Buffy.
Buffy the warrior has problems, Willow the mage-to-be has problems, Xander is just Xander with problems, all have attitude.
