Campaign: Low magic, slight tech (basic machinery), world is becoming invaded by another plane, all races but humans are custom as per DM.

Race: Slyth (Similar to lizardfolk, +4 Dex, -2 Cha, skills like escape artist, tumble, etc, cold-blooded [take penalties if cold], blah blah blah)

Class: Soulknife (BlaineTog's fix)

Background: Orphaned, grew up in monastery with a monk who's now in the party. Messed around with the weaponry when not allowed to, never learned anything "monkish". Skipped class with the other Slyth, ran away from monastary only to meet up with and party with the monk & others.

Was Paladin for one level due to mundane interest in blade combat and heightened interest in religion due to the monastary. Was kidnapped and underwent experiments by beings from the invading plane. Party saved me, experiments changed class entirely, unlocked psionic abilities, changed my Paladinesque ways to a true-neutral, godless Soulknife.

How the **** do I RP this character? The race I could do, the upbringing I could do, but this radical change is tough.

Hm...did you write his class progression from Paladin to Soulknife, or was that orchestrated by the DM? IMO, class build should never be taken out of the hands of the player, and it looks like it caught you from nowhere.

Well we agreed that my character was inherently not what I was looking to play and wasn't that interesting. We also agreed (DM and I) on a good way to mix it up and add a whole "dangerous" and "twisted" setting for the other PC's.

I just didn't anticipate the moods of the party (they're very curious) and the thought string of the character during these ordeals as being this impacting. Bit off maybe more than I can chew? lol...

I dont' want to be too confident or too n00b about the changes, and he did give me -4 to all stats for the module after the radical transformation, which helped... But now I'm not sure how to act after I've transformed. It's not only new to my char, but for the other chars too.
