| outtoluch02-01-08, 02:36 AM | These are the "mental stats" of my character. I'm not neccesarily looking for how thse stats would interact, but how to play them individualy. |
| The_Shaman02-01-08, 10:22 AM | - intelligence 15: you are very intelligent (sorry) and grasp complex problems with ease whether they are mechanical schematics, grammar rules, or logical debates. You need only a few moments before you figure out the underlying principles of anything, whether it is cooking, sneaking or shoeing a horse. - charisma 13: you are quite self-assured and have a natural talent for interacting with people. You have a memorable air and do not hesitate to look or act different - and tend to do it just so that it has the desired effect on people more often than not. You might not be naturally beautiful, but you can be very charming when you so desire. Overall, you're used to being the one to give suggestions or orders - and people tend to follow your lead. - wisdom 8: you are sometimes out of it - quite often, in fact. All too often you have your head in the clouds, thinking of rocket physics or how to best impress the one you're in love with, and tend to miss minor details. Such minor details may include the way that stone seems just so more polished, the duchess' smile seems to be a bit too wide or your own thoughts seem a bit incoherent ever since that gorgeous guy with the red cap winked your way while singing a strange tune in... was it elven? I suppose you were too focused on his ass to notice. |

I remember hearing once that each point of Intelligence is roughly equivalent to ten IQ points, so that would give you roughly a 150 IQ (squarely within genius territory). |
| Gorbeck02-02-08, 02:51 PM | I've always seen the difference between Intelligence and Wisdom as the difference between theory and practical application. A high Int, low Wis character may know the theory behind forging a sword or laying a trap, but would likely be unable to do it well (although his attempts would certainly go further than someone who didn't even understand the theory). I would roleplay this character as outgoing and boisterous. His intelligence gives him cause to be egotistical but his charisma makes his boasting attractive, rather than repulsive. He would be capable of coming up with intricate and complex plans that sometimes work, but his relatively low wisdom wouldn't allow him the patience or the practical knowledge to follow through with them. When the party's stuck and doesn't know what to do, he'd be the go-to guy. He'd likely be the first one to suggest a course of action and he'd certainly play the role of the party's spokesman and do it very well, but I wouldn't call him the leader. More often than not, his companions (and sometimes even he himself) might find it easier and faster to simply charge headlong into the unknown. Of course, that wouldn't stop him from rattling on for hours at the tavern about his latest adventure, and he would have little trouble describing to a small crowd in minute detail how he was able to thwart the giant with little more than a rock, a piece of string, and an old shoe. |

Quite possibly, although I'm not enough of a psychologist to say what genius really is. However it's safe to say that the character will be a natural at anything that requires rational thought. |
| Giradius02-02-08, 03:58 PM | based on what has already been said ... - intelligence 15: you are very intelligent (sorry) and grasp complex problems with ease whether they are mechanical schematics, grammar rules, or logical debates - charisma 13: you are quite self-assured and have a natural talent for interacting with people. You know the first thing that came to my mind, An Eccentric university physics lecturer, A mentally gifted but not so gifted as to be a colossus, confident and likable individual, who is a little scatty, unobservant and maybe lacking in common sense. If this is a non evil magic user then this characterization its very appropriate as it would give a kind of Pratchett, unseen university type quality to the character. buts thats just my opinion. |
| Divisionbyzer002-03-08, 03:35 AM | Wisdom is too much of a catch all ability. I know a lot of "practical" hands on people who I'd hardly call "wise". |
| Orchomenos02-05-08, 10:17 AM | You know the first thing that came to my mind, An Eccentric university physics lecturer, A mentally gifted but not so gifted as to be a colossus, confident and likable individual, who is a little scatty, unobservant and maybe lacking in common sense. Or a typical bard/troubadour/swashbuckler. You know how to insult people, you have the knack to do it properly, but you don't know when to shut up. You know the Legend of the Blue-Ear Dwarf, you tell it magistrally, but you don't realise it's perhaps not the best time to tell it when there is an angry dwarf in the room who happen to have a blue ear... |
| Daeva02-10-08, 01:21 AM | hmmmm i think The_Shaman is overdoing the effects of a wis 8, seriously thats more of a wis 5. JD in scrubs probably has a wisdom of 5. wis 8 can be simple as i has somewhat minor ADD!! like wis 8 is more of while looking around or listening you tend to not pay as much attention as one should because of your thoughts, i wouldnt say your lost in them. maybe you just don't seem to pick up on the rather obvious things sometimes but the plainly obvious is still rather obvious maybe you it takes you a few moments too much to find the BBQ sauce in the fridge when its planely on the second shelf like mom said, when your dads giving instructions you don't pause the game and listen you just keep playing, perhaps when your taking out the trash you dont notice the small bag from the bathroom leaning agaisnt the opposite end of the kitchen trash can. maybe losr your nintendo DS for a couple weeks when its simply 80% under a magazine on the table, why does it always take me a few minutes to find my wallet and keys? that guy across the room is ugly oh snap did they notice me making a weird face at them!! (a wis 8 is still well aware not to call the big bully a bad name or taunt them to their face, but might accidently sneer at them |
| Heliomance02-10-08, 09:25 AM | ... You've just described me perfectly. This makes me sad. |
