| ShoshuroKaigen06-19-03, 10:13 PM | I'm just wondering what kind of play should I use for this character of mine, Sinnoch. I just want some roleplaying paths for him. He is a Conjurer, and a custom race of mine, the Orcish Tiefling (need a better name, I don't know much about the Tanaruuk and I wanted a nice clean ECL 0). I am going to play him in a evil campaign hopefully and the three different alignments he could be is NE, LE, and LN. He is descended from a pit fiend and below I will put his background and his abilities below. STR- 10 DEX- 9 CON- 14 INT- 18 WIS- 15 CHA- 13 Background- Born to a half-fiend orcish servant of a pit fiend and a orcish priestess. Sinnoch's grandfather was a powerful pit fiend named Gorlan. It was a forced birth and she escaped before Sinnoch was born, and he was actually born in the Abyss. The priestess could not leave the planes and tried to raise him in the abyss in constant fear. Her son was an abomination but she raised him the best she could. She was a powerful priestess of one of the lesser orcish deities, Luthic. Luthic is the lesser goddess of the orcs, she presides over orc females, orcish fertility, protection, caves, and servitude. Sinnoch grew up surronded by fear and demons, but he learned the basic forms of survival. He learned to revere the high pantheon of Orcs. He believes that orcs are the race that will rule the world when the time comes and have the blessing of the Baatezu. He loved his mother very much and she taught him the most important things in life. She protected him from demons and made many enemies among the Tanar'ri as they tried to escape the abyss. One day they found a gate and desperately came through and met with a drow sorceress named Azekial. She wasn't happy that the demons ignored her call and these two orcs had ruined her plans and proceeded to rip them limb to limb with her bare claws (she was becoming a demon herself). Sinnoch's mother (her name has never been disclosed, Sinnoch refers to her simply as Mother) fought hard and gave Sinnoch enough time to run while Azekial dismembered and killed Mother. Sinnoch was full of sorrow and hate, and declared his emnity against Azekial and her demon associates. He didn't truly hate demons fully as he does today however. He secluded himself, just a poor orcish orphan of 9 lost. He found his way in the wilderness, using his wings to warm himself in the horrid weather. But he was surronded, he could smell and hear the breathing of the dire wolf pack that stalked him and waited for him to rest or collapse in fatigue, so they could strik and feast on the child's flesh. And it happened, he finally couldn't step any furthur and collapsed near a stream. He didn't know what happened next but he heard devilish shrieks and the wimpering of wolves, arcane chanting and blasts of magic. As he drifted into unconsciousness he saw the stream flowed in blood. He woke up in a old hut, he saw some meager food and drink near his bed and ate voraciously. He noticed the dark robed man watching him and looked up, covering his body with his wings. The man walked up, and Sinnoch noticed his grey, blind eyes. The man knew he was a devil-born and revealed himself to be a devil summoning. He felt the boys presence and came with his servants to save the boy. He knew the boy had so much arcane potential. The boy had a very sharp and cunning mind, and he had the physical toughness to endure the rigors of conjuration. The man asked the rejuvenated boy if he wanted to learn the dark arts, and become more powerful than ever. The man was named Ioc, and he was one of the most powerful wizards ever, though almost none on the Prime Material plane knew of his existence except for extremely knowledgable figures such as Eliminister. The boy reluctantly agreed but was taken by the Art and showed much enthusiam. But Ioc wasn't the kindest master. When Sinnoch did not listen or made a mistake, he was swiftly punished and was not given food. But Sinnoch perservered, and his still showed love for his master, the love a child would have for his parent, since Sinnoch never had met his father and Mother died early. Sinnoch was especiallly fascinated with the art to control demons and devils. He learned the strict rules of the wizard. He became much like his master. Dominating, calm, cold, and darkly intelligent. When he was 20 he completed his training early. However he was not met kindly during this year. Ioc had many enemies and one of them was Sinnoch's age old enemy Azekial. Sinnoch knew all Ioc knew of her and while they were walking through the winter woods, master and apprentice, she attacked with a hoard of dretches and vrocks, a swarm of demonic hordes. Sinnoch was confused and soon taken by the sorceress and she flew up with him with a dagger to his neck. Ioc looked around blindly, and summoned his servants but to no use. He was dragged through a dark gate into the Abyss. Sinnoch breathed in deep. He was at a loss at what to do. But his prayer was answered. Another gate opened and a pit fiend jumped forth and grabbed Azekial. She shrieked as she was covered in flames and being torn. The demonic swarm retreated back through their gate as it disappeared. Azekial pushed the fiend back and used her last resort, a scroll of teleport, and she disappeared in a burst of unholy light, injured and burned from the pit fiend. Sinnoch always knew he was different but never fully realized his heritage. Until now. The pit fiend descended down and looked to the stunned boy. "This weakling is my descendant? Ha! Your pitiful. But, if Ioc saw potential in you.... Hmph! Just because Asmodeus's chosen one thinks you have what it takes to attain the rank. Your a pathetic wretch, my grandson. I should have left you to the drow, but then my superiors wouldn't be happy." He grimaced and went through the gate, leaving Sinnoch confused and with new questions. He rose and dusted himself off, and continued down the forest road in the dead of winter. He needed to answer these new questions and suddenly he found himself in the middle of the exodus of a entire race, and he finds himself in a new adventure. ________________________________________ ____ So any tips how I should play him? I'm currently looking for an online campaign that would accept him and I want to sort out of his roleplaying issues and get his personality and such. I would like some feedback as well. All I need is a little help roleplaying him. EDIT: Tidied up the paragraph. I didn't want to look like an ingnorant sleazebag so I will post the Orcish Tiefling stats so I don't get anyone confused, and I guess I must make it LA +1 so its a tiefling. ORCISH TIEFLING (How many people will picture it) +2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, -4 Charisma, -2 Wisdom Darkvision 60' Outsider Darkness 1/day Light Sensitivity Weapon Familiarity (double-axe) Fav. Class: Sorcerer or Rogue ECL: +1 ORCISH TIEFLING (My little insignificant version) +2 Strength, -2 Charisma, -2 Wisdom Darkvision 60' Outsider Blood: Works like Orc Blood except dealing with outsiders. Light Sensitivity Weapon Familiarity (double-axe) Can take Scent as a feat at first level +2 Intimidation -2 Diplomacy Fav. Class: Sorcerer or Barbarian ECL: +0 This is just my version. I have a differnet veiw of orcs but its just my version. Anyway I wish I could get more feedback on the actual character, not the mistakes my horrid typing skills hath made. |
| Lord of the Ninth06-21-03, 03:52 AM | You have a 68 line paragraph. No one will read this, break it up. I can't really help you until you do this. First Tieflings are LA+1, so an orcish tiefling would probably be LA+1 as well. Second decide on what you want his alignment to be, what do you want to play the most, and what is this guy really. |
| ShoshuroKaigen06-21-03, 04:53 AM | Alright in that case, I tidy it up. I was wanted some suggestions on alignment a little looking at his history. Anyway i guess its LE as I originally thought. Let me tidy it up a bit. |
| dirk hightower07-03-03, 03:41 PM | I thought Tiefling was a race? So, how could he be half.... orc.... pit fiend.... tiefling ????? Too many parents!! He could be thirds... but not half... or he could be 1/4 pit fiend, 1/4 tiefling, 1/2 orc...?? waaaaaaaay too confusing..... but I can see why (+2 dex, +2 str ??!!?? even the early writers od D&D knew that Str and dex were waaaaaay more important than the other stats) again unbalanced any too complicated. Simplify, simplify, simplify ... or it won't be likely that any DM would allow him... |
| ShoshuroKaigen07-03-03, 03:57 PM | I can't believe you dug this out from the last page. Sinnoch was my pet project and he failed because nobody cared. And if you notice on the bottom of my post, I had two versions of the orcish tiefling. Remember that a Tiefling is a person descended from a fiend. Sinnoch was descended from a pit fiend, his father was a half-fiend orc. I now know there is a tanaruuk race for things similar to this. If you want to be helpful help me flesh him out. This is not a argument about anscestry. Basicly he is a Tiefling who is also an orc, because the Tiefling in the MM is human based. Thanks for reading it, if you read the whole thing. Ciao. |
