| Hammer_of_Tyr02-17-08, 12:50 AM | Here's a rough of the backstory on my Dragonfire Adept. The writing is atrocious, I apologize. I'll smooth it out after I hammer out a few more points. Any input would be appreciated. Moxsalanthaphylax was a young brass dragon, He was friends and worked as an agent/emissary/investigator for Morlicantha the silver dragon. Working in and around the Cormyr area (That's where were starting? right?) During a routine mission he stopped to chat a nice group of robed humans who seemed to have no fear of him. After a long conversation they offered him food and drink. Little did he know he was supping with members of the Cult of the Dragon. They messed him up pretty bad. They fed him a magical poision that was to start his conversion into a Dracolitch. Once he began to feel the onset of the poison and realized what had happened he fell on his poisoners and slew them all, but not before the secondary effects began to claim his life. He contacted Morlicantha and begged for help. He was poisoned and nearing death. Morlicantha couldn't get to him in time but could teleport a healer to him. She sent the powerful druid, (Insert druid here) But he (she) got there too late. The cults poison ravaged his body. The poison was designed start the conversion into a dracolitch. But the cultists were all slain and couldn't perform the required ceremony. The druid did the only thing he could, was cast reincarnate on Mox. To try to save something of the young dragon. Mox came back as an elf. He wasn't immediately pleased. Morlicantha promised he could work back into a more draconic form and cast many magics to start poor Mox back on his path. In the interim he still works for Morlicantha, building the experience he needs to fuel his transformation. (And giving Morlicantha the time she needs to figure out HOW to get him back in a dragon body permanently.) What do you think? This way instead of being an elf who worships dragons and wants to be one, I can be a slightly befuddled, confused dragon in an elven body trying to become a dragon again. |

First if the silver could teleport a druid there she could teleport herself. Better to have her magically contact a druid who is already closer. The other is the question of skill points (and to a lesser extent magic). Even at very young a dragon has a lot of skills. To reincarnate would leave you with those even though you are in a weaker body. Still its a great idea. I hope you can work out the mechanical defects since it sounds like a lot of fun to play. Perhaps you can lose some mastery of skill as the result of not knowing how to do things in your new body, needing to re-learn many of your skills in your severly altered form. The magic may well have been lost due to it be part of the form you were born to. Losing the form cost you the innate ability to channel that magic. |

I'm playing a Dragonfire adept and took "Draconic Knowledge" as his first invocation, It give a pretty insane bonuses to all knowledge skills. Couple that with the feat "shape souldmeld - elder spirit" (bonuses to Know history and arcane and UMD I have the high skill thing covered. The only thing he's not really good at is hitting things in Melee. Contact someone closer, better I like it. Thanks. |
