Hey, I am wondering how to roleplay this: I am sorcerer of high Cha (20) and low Int (5), and I wonder how can I try to be as persuasive as i should.
Meaning, it is really hard to be persuasive and to be treated as a leader, if you speak with one syllabus words and don't remember what was the name of the town's major...
My playing group is in need for charismatic leader, but it is hard for them to trust ideas said in lame form...

What are your ideas - how charismatism could be expressed better?!

This is quoted

"A character with high charisma may be beautiful, handsome, striking, personable, and confident. A character with high charisma and low intelligence may usually pass herself off as knowledgeable, until she meets a true expert."

Basicly your a friendly person and you may want a someone else's oppinion when you make decisions. Plus if you got a good wisdom you could be aware but more simple, not stupid per say but in the sense like a farmboy going to a city the first time, you lack skills and knowledge for most situations and have trouble understanding complecated things.

Two words:

Fashion model.

You look good, and people like you, but you really have nothing to offer intellectually. However, that doesn't mean other people realize that.

But you know we are more in dungeons then on catwalk :)

My question mostly were, how one with such charisma can lead others, if he takes stupid decisions (due to low INT). That gaming group need leader and i can play one, but how.

Also sideway question - does empathic link with ones familiar implies full possibilities of telepatic conversations!? because my familiar is quite more intelligent than me and maybe can help me explaining the right way?!

thanks

Well, I'd say that a high charisma doesn't necessarily makes you a leader. Many charismatic people don't want to lead, especialy if they don't feel good at it, or comfortable with it.

Yet, you could be a leader, if you admit you can't do it alone. Sure, the greatest leaders were charismatic, smart, wise, and sometimes even good warriors. You are only (as far as I know) charismatic. But you can be the figure of a party.

For example, in the real world, when we elect representants as head of our state, we actually elect a team. One of them is the real representant, the nominated leader. He answers questions, makes most of the talking. He's the one ensuring the population like the party, but he might know nothing of how economy or war works, he has experts who deal with that.

You could be the same. You appear to be the leader, and represent your adventuring party in all dealings with NPCs. But when it comes to military strategics, you refer to the strategist of the group. When it comes to legal issues, you get advice from those who know about it. Learn to trust your subalterns. You may have to take the final decision in the end, but you will be more able to do so, after you've consulted with your peers. And then you come to the mayor and explain the plans in the most pleasing way, and get the towns cooperation.

If you want to lead your PC party, I think you need more intelligence and wisdom than charisma. A very charismatic but inintelligent character could be good to inspire a large population, but if asked something precise, you will loose your followers.

A CHA20 INT5 character will be good to speak to NPC in the name of the party, but he will need advices from the high WIS cleric or high INT wizard or rogue. Celine Dion is a good example: someone write her beautiful songs, and she sings those songs perfectly. But don't ask her opinion on most thing!

Do you also have a high Wisdom? If so, you'll probably realize you arn't very knowledgable, and ask your party for advice on most things, and with your 20 Cha, they'll probably like you enough to give all the help they can.

Two words: Derek Zoolander.

You're ridiculously goodlooking and, like, people, like, really like you and... stuff. Maybe you're not the brightest bulb, but, earth to the 'Int 18' Wizard, that doesn't mean you can't not lead the party. You just need to be pointed in the right direction.

And you're a merfolk. ;)

Seriously, though, you don't have to be the party leader, even if you're the party's 'face' when dealing with NPCs. Depending on the size of the party and how they interact, they may not need a leader at all, and if they do, a high Int, high Wis character will do the job better.

Alternately, you can lead, after a fashion. Perhaps you're especially empathetic toward others (being a sorcerer, this may be to the point of having some intuitive 'sense' of others' feelings) and you even out the differences in the party. Perhaps you're both charming and bold and lead by example, taking the lead in dangerous situations and inspiring your comrades to follow you. Or perhaps you've managed to Bluff the party (and probably yourself) into thinking that you know what you're doing, even when you don't. If you take this last path, be sure to RP some seriously flawed decisions to the hilt.
