| psilontech12-28-06, 12:01 AM | Hey Guys, Playing a Dread Necromancer in a twisted little evil campaign one of my DM's came up where the primary source of Exp is... from RP'ing. We could kill a dragon, but we would get no exp if we didn't do it... In character :p So, what I want help with from you guys is coming up with a fairly good personality to play this dread necromancer by. (Level 3 campaign at the moment, we've played a few times, but I wanna flesh him out some more) So far, he's paranoid, twitchy, pale, messed up little human. Whenever he talks to someone, he takes notes and asks if they have ever nearly died or actually died and was ressurrected, then asks for information on what it was like, taking notes all the while. He has become fairly attached to the Half-Orc Barbarian who, has apparently, died dozens of times. He is currently writing a book on this poor Int 7 fellow. He Hates Tigers... Don't ask why, he just DOES. During a barfight (which he simply obseved, not taking part of) a man rolled a natural one, slipped, smacked his head on the side of the table, and fell onto broken glass, bleeding out to -8. Dementhes proceeded to stabalize him, woke him up, asked him what it was like, taking notes, and while the man thanked him for stabalizing him, he pumped negative energy into the poor guy that was at 1 and killed him while chaos insued all around. He. Does. Not. Like. Tigers. Cats creep him out too, but I already covered the tigers, just giving it emphasis. He seems, so far, to have... Abandonment issues. His 'Master', who apparently killed his entire family, and because he survived whatever disease he set upon him, took him as his apprentace (I know I spelled that wrong...) and in general, was a twisted freak towards the poor little 5 year old. Master turned into a lich, went further insane, and abandoned poor little kid 5 years later. Dementhes wanders around for another 6 years before campaign begins generally just being a little emo kid trying to get by... while playing with corpses and expanding upon his necromantic knowledge. So... What else does this character need? What needs to be dropped? Thanks! |
| YamiSouru12-31-06, 12:22 AM | hrmm well i have always had the idea to play a very flamboyant dread necro, bright colors and the whole nine yards, but for what you posted? I cant tell you how to rp a charactor. its just not right but i can instead ask you questions. Why does he want to find out about what death is like? What are his short term goals? what are his long term goals? Does he veiw undead as things that can slack his loneliness? why does he practise necromancy at all if it brings back bad memories? WHy does he want to be a lich? Why does he fear tigers so much? Answere those and you might find more information about he charactor then you thought you had before :D |
| mkill01-01-07, 12:12 PM | It would help if you write a short backstory of the character. What did he do before the first adventure? Who taught him necromancy? What drove him into the profession? Who are his parents, are they still alive, what did they do, what did they think of him? Where was he born? Did he have childhood friends? Any special events then? You might even find the answer why he actually hates cats. Oh, and what's his alignment? |
| Radijs01-01-07, 08:32 PM | Losing his parents and later his mentor could have caused something like abandonment issues. So he made undead who he controls absolutely, this way they cannot leave him. He never has to be alone, ever! |

| BlackWeasel01-03-07, 06:45 PM | I don't know why but i have this idea of him wondering around with a ruler and pencil taking measurements of people and wounds. |
| stuporhero9301-03-07, 06:46 PM | Well maybe he could quest to find remains of his parents adn hope to ressurect them. Kill zombifie anyone that gets in way. Also he might take very badly to your mom jokes. |
