| Althor Enchantor11-25-03, 12:32 PM | I typically play a Neutral Good Sorcerer, but my current character is a Chaotic Good Sorcerer with one level of Bard and an interest in becoming a Heartwarder (CG Priest/Templar of Goddess of Love and Beauty). However, most of the other members of my group are Chaotic Neutral characters; even the DM and the NG Dwarven Fighter act as if they were CN. How do I roleplay my character when the other party members have histories of randomly taking swings at me and the DM is Roleplaying all the NPC's to hate me despite my 18 CHA? ("I don't like that fellow; he's too charismatic for his own good.") |

I think you should talk to the player of the dwarf, and point out that he's not adhering to his alignment at all. See if it's not because he has no idea what NG means, or if it's because he'd really rather be CN or something. You should also talk to your DM. There's no point having a highly-charismatic hero if he keeps downplaying his influence. Tell him he's undermining your character. If all else fails, distribute a few CHA points to another useful stat (INT comes to mind), switch your alignment to NE without the other players knowing it, and plot their doom. (okay, okay, I admit none of what I said seems to be good advice, but it's all I can think of at the moment. Sorry.) |

But I don't think you are so radically different from your world... Perhaps should you ask yourself if you well role play your alignment. Do you want to selfishly become an Hearwarder? Or are you helping all others without any aftertought? If you're sure that you roleplay well, then I can only second what LiXinjian suggested: either talking with the players & DM, either switching your alignment to CE and plot their doom. A good way to do the last one could be the Shadow Weave (first warning), then becoming a Shadow Adept. The bonus to enchantment and illusion schools could be a good temptation for a Sunite. When discuting with other players & DM, make sure they respect your charisma if they don't respect your character. A high charisma character is not only the most beautiful character on Toril, it is also an intimidating one, a good lyar and a good diplomat. DM's NPCs should at least be somewhat fascinated by you (before laughing of you, at the DM discretion), it's the minimum he should roleplay. |

Use the stats that you have to "negotiate" your way into their hearts (i.e.: every time that a situation comes up, roll your charisma based skills and emphasize intimidation or diplomacy.) While this will no doubt annoy them, it will also give you rules based backing for your role playing. I prefer a more moderate solution, but sometimes people need to have things "beat" into their heads. |
