| Saturno12-13-06, 08:51 AM | I have a VoP monk in my party who aspire to become a saint... He have always played an exalted good char (paladin style) and haven't ever taken rewards for the quest who he did (But he have VoP, then he needn't money). You think that is ok letting him become what he want? The saint is a powerfull archtype, expecially for a VoP monk (insane AC, dmg versus evil and regeneration). If you suggest to leave him try, what sacrifice can be enough to earn the sanctity? Only sacrifice his life for another o can I ask something else? He can't give material goods, couse he is poor and have nothing... Any suggestions? |

In catholicism to become a saint you ahev to perfor 3 miracles, just as a measure for your PC becoming a saint. I see no problem with him actually doing it but it's not something I think that should happen at level 5 or even level 10 by level 15 he may have performed enough good deeds and possibly even his three mircales to deserve being a saint. You may consider allowing him to become a saint if he willfully sacrafices his own life to save another. he'd need to be resurrected of course but if you don't say anything about his self sacrafice being a way to sainthood and he does it of his own accord then let him be a saint. Also I'm not sure what the level adjustment on the saint Archetype is but I wouldn't let him do any leeling till he cuaght up on the XP he would need ot meet that level adjustment. |

I've only played with one person that wanted a character to become a saint, so the DM put him in a situation where he died to defeat BBEG, the DM made the BBEG using ever horrible thing he could from the BoVD, defeating a great evil is good for becoming a saint and BoVD helps to make such a great evil. |

Rapid healing half of his hit dice (max 10/round) +1d6 dmg to evil creatures and +1d6 dmg if evils strikes him with natural attacks... +2 on ALL the DC of all of his skills (like stunning fist) and +2 at all spells DC And some other small bonuses... Is very very powerfull for a +2 ECL... |

Here's what I would do now that I'm having a few moments to think about it some more. Make a list of tasks he needs to complete to become a saint. Some tasks can be related to feats (ie. Take a vow of poverty, take a vow of celibacy) some can be realted to gods, siince you could only be a saint if a god lets you (ie Have a certain domain, be able to cast a certain spell) and some thing can be role playing (ie Have peaceful contact with a good outsider of your diety, sacrafice your life for another, kill an evil outsider) and then of course he has to live up to a cerain code of conduct. Onc eyou have your list don't show it to him, tell him their are thigns he has to do to become a saint they are written and set in stone and all he has to do is complete all the tasks without knowing what they are. I think that would be great for RP and he would become a saint when his chaarcter was ready nto at any given level. |
