| Dalrath07-06-04, 06:05 PM | Greetings! I have a fifth level character who is planning on taking Leadership and I have been racking my brain for a cohort but to no avail. Here is some background. My Character Dalrath Male Human Rogue 5 CN Str 10 Dex 18 Con 10 Int 14 Wis 10 Cha 12 Dalrath is combat oriented and uses his sneak attack often. Dalrath is a Rogue with a rapier wit. He is usually quiet, but always right behind his friends. The son of a retired Paladin. His father recived the scorn of many nobles because his wealth gave him the advantages of nobility, but he was not of noble birth. Young Dalrath gladly returned their scorn and developed a dry sarcastic sense of humor, which his father delighted in. His father instilled in him a love of liberty. Dalrath always planned on adventuring, but was pulled in quite onaccident.(I can describe this further if you want.) Other Party Members CN Male Elven Bard (also taking leadership) Elf raised by human nobles. Aspires to reach nobility. LN Male Human Wizard Scholarly, often frustrated by the chaotic party member but belives strongly in the ties of friendship. Recently we have defeated a Vampire noble and have been granted his land. We also plan on starting an Adventurers Guild. Any ideas would be appreciated.:D |

You have a bard (Who I'm guessing is your healer), you have a wizard, and you have a rogue. Looks like a fighter type character would be a good option. Another question is: Why am I taking this feat? Are you taking it to fill in the party gaps, is is goal orintated with your character? Did you want to start a guild? Need some people to protect your castle? Need a second in command? Remember that the cohort (and followers when you get them) are loyal to you. Not nessisarilly to your cause (if you have one) People devoted to causes are generally allies as its the cause they want to help, not really you. Anyways, I'm getting off track. I would go with a BAB 20 cohort, as your party looks like it could use the muscle. Also you could do some nifty role playing things with him/her. Maybe the cohort is your younger (maybe older) brother/sister who has decided to follow you maybe to scorn your parents, to protect you, something like that. It could be someone you character knows or has come across. Justa use your imagination. But I would say a BAB 20 character (tank basicly) And prehaps minor healing (if you get a ranger) EDIT: I also want to remind you, if you don't already know, that you can not have a cohort who's alignment is opposed to your own on either the law vs chaos or the good vs evil axis. And you take a leadership score penalty of -1 if you recruit a cohort of an alignment different than yours. |

Maybe not as detailed, but you should probably come up with a short background and why he decided to follow your character. Prehaps he idolizes you to a degree (Not talking fan boy idolize) and has tremendous respect for you (and for your party members to a degree again) for taking on and slaying a vampire. You could give the ranger favored enemy (undead) for a bit more flavor. My advise is to come up with a background and a personality. Just remember that your going to be playing another essentially, PC. You shouldn't just stuff him in the background execpt for fights, but he doesn't have to be in the limelight. Just make sure he interacts with the party and others every so often. Hope that helps. |
