Kohdok 05-24-05, 05:42 PM	A little prestory- Shadow sighed as he set his new backpack on the ground. It had been really generous of the blonde-bearded man to give him all of these things after his recovery. He thought of the events that had sent him on this journey. Shadow always felt some sort of darkness hidden beneath him, but he typically ignored it, as he had more important things to take care of, like his younger sister, Kris. He had been given Kris over thirteen years ago by her mother, who seemed wounded, but ran away from him. He was only seven at the time, but he had to take care of her just the same. Sure, he learned a lot of good trades, such as milking cows and such, but that wasn't earning him a lot of money right now. It was a few weeks ago when it started. Something about Kris seemed different, almost dark. It was later that Shadow discovered that Kris's mother was still alive, and that she was a purple, withered old Night hag who was trying to instigate 'The change'*1. Shadow tried to stop one of these visits, but was thrown into an etheral dimension for the duration of the ceremony. Kris still hadn't undergone the change, but it was obvious that she was close, as her blue hair was now almost black. Shadow fled with his sister. However,Kris had been brainwashed into thinking the change was what she wanted, and she ran away from Shadow to find her mother. Shadow was heartbroken...and angry. It was through luck that he found the old Gypsy woman that he knew and her visitor. He got an attuned heartstone from the womanand a sword from the blonde-bearded visitor. It was an epic battle, but Shadow *barely* was victorious. However, Kris seemed to want to suffer this vile change, and cursed her brother with the spells she had been taught in her time with her mother. Unable to complete the change forever, Kris fled in tears, while Shadow could only collapse to the ground in exhaustion. Shadow awoke later back in a town with the Blonde-bearded man sitting next to him. "She may not know it now, but you've saved her from the most wretched of fate." Notes for Shadow Shadow Is a character I have already developed. He is a Tiefling and, at his first few levels, is working back into his prime. He'll be a rogue for his first level, as he is always good with his hands, and then will take four levels in Barbarian. (I considered fighter, but realised the speed and rage were traits I wanted to give him. 1st level is pretty much a warm-up). He has a special sword, though he has to awaken its powers. His reasons for questing far and wide are to find his sister and *Maybe* awaken his sword. He also believes that those who trick people maliciously should be punished. Notes for Kris Here's where I need help. I need some help throwing Kris together. Kris is currently Chaotic Evil (Shadow is True Neutral). She has become rather solitary from her recent experience, but travels with people for the purpose of protection. ("I need you as a shield...I mean...'travelling companion'.") Evil is not her nature, though, and I hope that she can be brought around. She fights like a Night-Hag, using some subterfuge, then killing them when they're down. (She's not above seduction, but she doesn't like it when she does it.) She is questing to avoid her brother (For now) and see if there is a way for her to complete the transformtion since her mother, being an outsider, cannot be revived to complete it. Her rolls are: 16, 15, 15, 15, 14, 12 (Good rolls, I know, but I fell into the "Roll again" box with my first two sets of rolls.) I want her to have the Warlock class Her race is Human, unless you want to give her the "Half-Hag" class, which I think is actually male-only, but I'm not sure... *1- See Dragon #324 under "Ecology of the Night Hag"
Need_A_Life 05-25-05, 04:12 PM	A fiendish human? It gives several things that you could 'blame' on the change. Also, may I suggest that Kris was not only becoming a Hag (the race, that is) but becoming something more, something surpassing all the previous generations of the line. Meant to ensure their lienages survival, Kris underwent several rituals before the ritual of Change itself, allowing for some unpredictability in her nature, perhaps she becomes a Acolyte of the Skin, finally finishing the Change? perhaps she becomes a mindbender, and attempts to sway the minds of night hags to finish the process? Time will show...
