I play a lvl 10 Bane Monk and want to take the PrC Shadowdancer for the next levels. The problem is that my DM want me to have a contact with the plane of shadows before i can take this class but I dont know how this contact is possible and how to create a good story.

Being lvl 10, you should have some good wealth piled up.

Pay a local mage to take you on a trip or do something. May cost a lot, but make it worth the while by finding something worth searching for. Go to the local library or to the bards or whomever distributes tales of lost items and see if anything good is on the plane. Then go. Two birds with one stone.

But pay a tour guide... er, mage.

Maybe you could use that old saying...

"If you can't join them, beat the crap out of them."

At least I think that is how it goes...

Why not have your character (if lawful good) seek out and fight shadows, as a means of training against a challanging foe as well as performing a service for the community. After that, you might find a means of gaining access to the plane of shadow to fight them on their own turf, or maybe even seal up a crack between the material plane and the plane of shadow that is allowing them to pass through. That way you gain access or at least an understanding of the plane of shadow, and you get to play "tag" with the evil ghosts that steal the life's blood from your soul.

YAY!

These are just random ideas.
