| WoT Fan03-12-06, 07:21 PM | How can I role-play a CN Halfling Rogue, who lives for theiving and all around sneaky-ness, without being considered a disturbance? I want him to not trust anyone, and as a concequence no one trusts him, but how can I do that? As of now it is just petty pickpocketing that he does, and the occasional trip to a taverns guest rooms, but I want my character to act like a real theif, not a petty robber. How can I most efficiently implement this? As of now it is left at going out by myself, or, if followed, blend in with the crowd. But that just doesn't cut it for me... Is there anything I can do that just makes my character more pronounced than that of a petty theif? |
| Harrow Blade03-13-06, 12:19 AM | Planning ,planning and more planning. take a look at any of the big heist movies and they all plan for months in advance to make off with a huge swag of loot. Examples are Oceans 11, The Italian Job, Entrapment and a few others that escape me right now. Always be on the look out for the next big job, the one that will make it for you. That doesn't mean stop being a rogue, you need to keep your skills up, but your focus should be on the big one. That said try and involve your group if they are motivated by money offer cut, if the paladin is needed to provide some muscle convince him that it will some how be for the greater good. Eg, the person you are robbing is an evil mage, or slave trader etc. If the group you are with is a bunch of goodie two shoes try to limit how much they know about your extra atcivities but keep them on side by acting as scout/trap finder or some other way. Hope that helps |
| Dipteran_Legacy03-13-06, 12:21 AM | leveling. :P other than the obvious, though, if a few other members of the party are sneaks, you have more muscle in determining the course of a campaign, and can start your own crime ring. if, however, you are the lone and single theif, there's not much more that you can do. maybe start robbing the houses of the nobility... but that's probably it. places like temples or the major nobility's homes are probably going to be magically protected, unless your dm's a sop. which brings us back to levelling :( . (of course, as I said, with a few characters working together, grand heists like these become more doable-you have magical support of your own, and a stealthy cleric could creep right along with you, and heal you if you fall prey to some nefarious trap) |
