Shield Dwarf Cleric of Dumathoin Level 1 and beyond [Archive] - Wizards Community

I have been entrusted the role of Cleric Dwarf in a FR campaign.
This is what I came up with so far:

We haven't rolled for abilities yet but I have assumed a typical 16-14-12-10-8-6 hopping it'll be as good as this.

Domains: Metal, Craft
STR: 8 -1
DEX: 6 -2
CON: 12 +1
INT: 14 +2
CHA: 10 +0
WIS: 16 +3

Feat:
Skill Focus [craft(stonecutting)] - domain bonus feat
Exotic Weapon Proficiency [Maul] - domain bonus feat
Weapon Focus [Maul] - domain bonus feat

Skills:
Concentration (Con), 3
Craft (stonecutting) (Int), 3 (+3 skill focus)
Diplomacy (Cha), 3
Heal (Wis), 2
Knowledge (arcana)) (Int), 1
Knowledge (history) (Int), 1
Knowledge (religion) (Int), 1
Knowledge (the planes) (Int), 1
Profession (Wis), 0
Spellcraft (Int), 1

Bas Attack Bonus: +0

Attack: Maul (one handed) 0 damage: 1D10 -1 20/x3
AC: (Splint mail +6) (Heavy steel Shield +2) 16, flat-footed 16, touch 8

The idea of the character is to get him to RuneCaster. I like the idea of carfting items and never used it before, runes sounded very much in character.

Now what would you advise for my first feat, I will need to give a hand to the fighter of the team so I was looking into something a bit martial.

Also to take the PrCs RuneCaster I need to have Inscribe Rune.
Req: Int 13+,
Craft skill in medium being used (wood, stone, etc.)
DIVINE spellcaster 3rd+ level

my second question is at level 5 I will have a spellcasting level high enough to cast 3rd level spells, and I will meet the 8 ranks req for skills for the PrCs.

When I level up (6) do I first get a new feat, which allow me to take Inscribe rune and therefore make this level as RuneCaster or do I have to take the level first (in which case Cleric again) and then take the feat...

02-09-05, 08:51 AM Your in the wrong board, buddy. Character Development is to ask questions for backstory, character concepts, and quirks. Stuff like that to make him an interesting character. What you want is the Character Optimizing board, for questions dealing with mechanics and build: best feats, PrCs, rules, and magic items. Stuff that'll make him an effective character. :)

Which you can take at third level.

A spell level and spellcaster level are two different things. A spellcaster level is how many levels you have in a magic using class. A 5th level wizard has a 5th spellcaster level. A spell level, is just the level of the spell. Same wizard could cast fireball, a 3rd level spell.
