With more detail on the airships and workings of your campaign world I'd be more then happy to help. This is a fairly random idea but you said you were traveling around with your friends from childhood? Perhaps you and your companions became air pirates to avoid the rigors and responsibility of adulthood. That sort of mentality goes along with a compulsive prankster.*shrug* |
| FoxYerSox06-06-07, 12:51 AM | oh yeah sorry lol. well actually, its a home brew world thats a combination of the 4 Major realms. my air ship is designed like one from Ebberon, and the new city of New Waterdeep, has split from the original teaching and peace of Waterdeep from Faerun, they now seek to control the Sky's. My guy, Victor, actually split up from his friends years ago, they recently met again in there home town. |

| Orchomenos06-06-07, 10:21 AM | You could be an orphan, raised by your aunt and uncle, an otherwise normal familly. Because you lost your parents at 9 years old, you've always been a bit disturbed. You were always secretly leaving home to spy on other villagers. This is how you learned that the bad tempered Old Jemmar is a former pirate. You approach him to learn more; at first he just wanted to strangle you, but he finally only threatened to strangle you if you would tell anyone, even your closest friends, what you knew about him. He secretly taught you old stories and many tricks, until one day you found him murdered, probably because he knew something, something that he probably told you... |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose06-07-07, 01:26 AM | FoxYerSox was a troublesome young man. A born leader his friends would follow him everywhere and do anything he would do. It was perhaps his greatest trait that he never abused this charismatic power to lead others into doing wicked things for him. Rather he would never ask anything he would not dare himself. At 12 years of age he tested that old axiom "If your friends jumped off a bridge would you too?" and it turned out that if he did so would all his friends. Unfortunately not all were gifted with his luck or agility and young Bunglefoot twised his ankle on landing then fell into the river, where, a poor swimmer to start with, he drowned. FoxYerSox was devestated. His friend had died and it was his fault. No consolation would take hold. He had jumped without ever considering Bunglefoot's clumsiness and so he was at fault and that was all there was to it. Just under a year later on Bunglefoot's birthday FoxYerSox left home. He would find a place where others chose their own fates and would not listen to those undeserving of such. In New Waterdeep he found a home. As a deckhand people not only didn't listen to him they didn't even hear him. But such a life is hard on a charismatic young man in his prime. When his ship was raided by pirates he stowed away on board the pirate ship. When he was discovered and dragged before the captain he was asked a single question. "If I allow you to live and go free you may wind up giving away my position. How can I let you live?" For a moment FoxYerSox thought the question was rhetorical and he would die no matter what he said. Certainly the viscious grins of the prates suggested it. Then looking in the captains eyes he saw a chance. He stood up as tall as he could, puffed his chest out, and said "Don't let me go. Just make me part of the crew." When the laughter died down the captain shook the mane of unruly hair on the boys head and said "Done. Pirate #12 he's in your apprenticeship now." As time went on FoxYerSox garnered skill and traded ships a dozen times. His joining a ship came to be known as a sign of good luck as he had a knack for spotting out patrol vessels before they spotted his. Last time FoxYerSox set down in a pirate port though it was poor luck indeed. The New Waterdeep Airial Forces had laid an ambush. FoxYerSox barely got away and had been laying low in a nearby village when a band of adventurers passed through. Low and behold these were the fellow scoundrels of his youth and they, upon hearing his story, convinced him that a (slightly) more this-side-of-the-law approach was in line. |
