After escape, he might find a friend or organization which helps him protect himself; or maybe he learned to do so beforehand (fighting against other slaves, either as a gladiator or otherwise). |

The best way to get the most out of posting here is put as much as you can think down here then ask the questions or say what you need help with. Stuff like what lvl, race, class, alignment you are and if you have any preferences for your cohort. I started thinking about troll, ogre etc as a cohort but none seemed right. Trolls are generally too stupid and hungry to be reliable, ogres have been done to death. How about a minotaur fighter/barb using a spiked chain (I know that has been done to death but I really like the idea of a former slave using the symbol of thier hardship as a weapon.) Kotarmin (as I have dubbed your cohort for my own pleasure) was a Minotaur salior who's ship was attacked by a Kraken. One of only a handfull to survive he swam to shore only to be captured by slavers who found the opportunity too good to pass up. utterly degraded Kotarmin was used as a beast of burden almost to the point of breaking his will to survive. That was until one of his fellow minotaurs was starved then beaten to death for daring to steal food to sustain himself. A rage grew in Kotarmin that he could no longer contain. He broke free and killed several of the humans tending the slaves and was only bought down by a squad of heavily armed gaurdsmen. Nearly dead he was sold to a gladiator trainer (great idea Callista) who saw great potential in him. Months passed and Kotarmin was healed, trained and then put into the arena. His great strength and size coupled with the expert training made him a croud favourite and regular victor. Undefeated he began to settle into the life of a gladiator, that was until he found his opponent one match was none other than a fellow crew member from his wrecked ship. He tried not to fight but his old friend was out of his mind having been heavily drugged with narcotics to the point where he was more of an enraged animal than sentient being. to survive kotarmin was forced to kill his friend. that very night he broke out and escaped from the city after killing many a gaurd who tried to stop him. He fled into the wilderness, bleeding and lost, until he was set upon by a vicious pack of (choose one the following: Ogres, wargs, trolls, gnome illusionists, or dire wolves). Unable to survive by himself you enter the fray with no concern for yourself to save the wounded Minotaur. Lost and alone you are the first person to be kind to him and so he agrees to join with you. A respect and freindship grows and the two of you adventure happily ever after. Not entirely serious but I hope it helps. Harrow Blade |
