| Izax1907-21-05, 08:50 PM | I'm mostly done creating a 3rd level character for my friend's new campaign, which he has forewarned us, will be something of a whodunnit mystery, but with combat nonetheless. Knowing this, I decided to play a Psychic Rogue (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040723b) who gave up a posh, but emotionally restrictive life as a dealmaker. (He was very good at this owing to his abilities.) From my sheet: Ricamros was born into a wealthy merchant family, where he quickly became a very prized negotiator for all sorts of business deals, using every trick he had; his good looks, quick wit, razor-sharp intelligence, and occasional underhanded tactics served him extremely well. After several years of this living, he came to tire of his tricks, and how his family treated him as a tool, only there to get a better price on goods. Using his skills for himself for once, he discovered many of the family secrets, and which factions secretly wanted their heads for previous scams. After amassing this store of information, he learned that there was another in the family, a rising prodigy, who threatened to overshadow him, and thus cause his family to cast him aside like old garbage. He would not have this, and so met with opposing factions, who agreed to wipe out his family in exchange for the information on how to do so. Ricamros did not feel as guilty as he might have about such actions, because his family, to a man, was full of cheating, lying swindlers. The night of the planned attack, when all of his family was at a intimate feast, he excused himself early on a business trip, and only looked back when he was so far away that the flames were as a torchlight in the dark. Now he journeys where he wills, using his arts to help good people and atone for his earlier deeds. Personality: Ricamros fully believes that the ends justify the means, and he is fully willing to break any code he sees as in the way of his goal. Redeeming this dark attitude is that he tirelessly works to help good, innocent people and usually works against those in power who have been spoiled by such power. He is assisted in his goals by his newly acquired psicrystal, Sorma, who epitomizes everything deceptive about him, with a zeal for elaborate dececption and also habitual lying. When talking to Sorma, people are never able to get a straight answer, and Ricamros himself shies away from them, if only on principle. When forced to take up arms, usually after a "deal gone bad", Ricamros prefers the finesse of a rapier, and striking at the weak points in his opponent's defense. Although I like where the character is right now, and am considering making his rapier made of dark crystal, if only for the flavor, I feel like I have not attained quite enough character as I want to. Basically what I want is feedback, first, on what you like and dislike about my character and his backstory, but also what ideas you have for individualizing him. Much thanks for any advice. |
