08-14-04, 09:35 AM Making a tiefling for an upcoming campaign and was looking for some help fleshing him all out. And a possible

Just the sweet and short....

Long ago a Shadow Demon Lord died but not before spawning little demon babies all over the 4 corners of Faerun(Our faerun is pretty much all the dnd worlds strewn together as far as gods and whatnot)

These demonspawn driven to see thier father take his throne once more formed a cult in his name and begun searching for ways to ressurect his demoness.

Unsuccesful, the demonspawn eventually went on to have children of thier own, only the odd fact was that these children were completely (human/dwarven/elven/etc) without a trace of demonic blood.

As time goes on, those children in turn have children of thier own and those have children of thier own.

The cult discovers the truth, that eventually one will be born with the blood of the Shadow demon evident and he will be the one that can resurrect the Shadow demon....

Looking for some ideas and suggestions.
Shadow Demon's name? He'd be an highly advanced unique shadow demon
Shadow Demons plane of the abyss?
Task to be performed by character to resurrect Demon?

Anyway, onto the character himself

Level 8 tiefling cleric, he's never been partial to worshipping a god, his divine power almost seems as if its just a part of him, he worships the road and the freedom it brings(Travel domain)
For a second domain I am at a loss, I want something that conveys a darker self, such as Darkness/Pain/Hatred domains, havent decided just yet. Ideas?

I envision him as doing the best a normal person can do with the blood of a demon lord flowing through him.
He wouldn't kill an innocent, but to his enemies he'd have no trouble with tormenting/torturing them unto death.He would revel in the bloodshed of his enemies.
He is not above stealing but wouldn't do so against women and children...his moral code is weak but it is there...
He'd be a bit of a loner, having turned to the wilds as a young boy and not fit well in social situations.

He's often mistaken for some manner of druid or ranger. He dresses in animal skins, and uses a wooden cudgel as his weapon and a Hunting dog named Elmer he purchased and trained years ago is his faithful companion.
So for alignment? CN? NE?

Physically... 6'0'' 190-200 lbs. His skin is warm and almost appears sunburnt in sunlight, but at night or in darkness his skin turns nearly gray and becomes cool and corpselike to the tough.
The sunlight causes him mild discomfort as if his eyes are contantly adjusting to its brightness.
- Feral face with protruding jaw and fanged canine teeth
- Eyes are a bright, vivid green in daylight and in darkness they blot themselves out to a midnight black
- His breath constantly smells of smoke and brimstone no matter his personnal hygiene.

Not entirely sure what I am looking for, but it helped to type it all down. Thanks for reading.

08-20-04, 09:13 AM I'd personally say CN, but I'm lax on alignments. I would give the benefit of the doubt until your track record of bad stuff built up a bit.

Grand-demons name: You can very easily just throw a bunch of syllables together and call it a name. Dragon had a shadow god in a recent issue, called Eberus IIRC. You could check him out. If you're using Grewhawk gods as well as FR ones, there's the possibility of using Tharizdun as your progenitor.
Plane: Roll d666. Make up nasty-sounding name.
Rebirth method: Any sane DM who wants a non-vile campaign will know the answer to this one.......the ritual will invariably involve you being shredded and the resulting mush being fed to balors or something quite similar. So, no allying with the cult then :)

08-20-04, 05:47 PM id say true neutral with strong tendencys to chaos and evil, close but not quite there yet. then u get to role play him becoming the depraaved jaded type wich should be fun im assuming that u channel negative eneregy, so an intresting ritual would be for the cult to discover that in order to reserect the demon that oone of his desendent must channel positive enrgy into somthing useing the rules in the old warriors of the fath or what cleric splat is called. as for the demons name advanced/ uniquie shadow demon Eriador was the name of Saurons first fortress that he held thru the second age, it almost seemed caught betwwen the plane of shadow and fire and u could take the shadow demon apply the draconic or red ahlf dragon template to it pick and choose some fun class ability like insightful strike from swash buckler from CW mettle and evsion and watch it own the world when it gets res'd it will be the equiv of an epic wizard right?
