for my next character I was thinking of making him a spartan themed character. I was wondering what type of class most closing resembles the spartan warrior, I came up with either the barbarian, warblade, or fighter. suggestions are welcome.

Fighter, warblade [with white raven, ironheart] or a fighter/warblade all fit

Think about taking Feats like phalanx fighting, shieldmate, deflect arrows and some other leadership and battle feats in heroes of battle
He's Very disciplined and highly trained.Lawful in alignment

Excellent. I would most def have to say Fighter. Perhaps with a sort of shield as well as a shortspear or javelins and a shortsword.

Warblade, using the Iron heart,White raven, maybe some Diamond mind and stone dragon.

Human would be good, bronze items are covered in the arms and Equipment guide, and the DMG. Also use a heavy bronze shield, Javelin, Short spear, or Long spear if you can convince DM to allow one-handed as martial weapon. Scimitar I'm sure would work. Shield feats of all kinds work. maybe take Improved Toughness, and leadership if you plan to be a leader.

I thought they would be chaotic good more so than lawful. But then again i am sometimes wrong.

Rigorous discipline and constant training and militarism sounds lawful to me

You might find some inspiration here

A spartan is pretty much as lawful as you can get, with discipline, obedience, and restraint as the main virtues. Lawful neutral, even. When it comes to fighting, it would be a rather defensive style, based on working together with others. Heavy armor, shield, spear, sword. I wouldn't worry about the materials or specific items used, since that's mainly determined by what was availible at the time.

And, of course, don't look to the movie 300 for inspiration if you want a historical spartan, since almost everything in it is wrong in that regard (pretty much everything except the style of fighting).

Shortspear, nothing, the way Greek formations work is by giving everyone a spear that'll reach a few ranks ahead of'im. Longspears and shortswords, that's what they used. Definitely large shields, breastplate armour.

Oh, and sandals. Mustn't forget the sandals.

The class? I'd go with fighter; lots of feats to spend on weapon focus, critical, and whatnot.

Yeah I figured it wasn't historically correct, because it's based on the comic book by frank miller, but it was a good movie otherwise. if I went with the warblade wht maneuvers from iron heart and the other discipline should i choose? I know if I go with a fighter i'll choose the feats Weapon focus(shortsword),)shortspear/longspear), improved critical, endurance, to name a few. thanks for the tips by the way.
