hey all i'm looking for ideas on a character i'm playing right now, I came up with the idea of having a split personality

I'm looking for a unique trigger to trigger each personality.

Personality one: Powered by greed, will do what is required to get hands on some gold. Not just minor gold big items and stuff.

personality two: from the "crusader" alignment, a true paladin like wizard. obey's all laws and fights for good.

Only problem is right now my alignment is TN, I'm trying to figure out how to setup the trigger. Any thoughts?

ideas always welcome, thx.

Usually split personalities are triggered by stress. However in your case, I would guess that your greedy persona takes over whenever you are in the presence of treasure (or when you think you can get it), and your crusader persona probably takes over if an innocent is threatened or you find yourself in one of those "hero moments".

If you want an impromptu mechanic, I'd say that whenever you're in a dangerous situation you make an oppsed roll against yourself. If there is a high chance of treasure your greed gets a +5 bonus, if there is an innocent at stake (or something similar) the crusader gets a +5 bonus. Your core personality can choose to resist this with a check (DC equal to the winner's roll). The core personality also remains in control if the other two have a tie.

thanks, would you prefer the two know about each other? or just be mysterious from each other...
