This takes place durring the Dawn of Defiance setting. I am a good Jedi focused on the light saber. In our group is a Sith specializing in force powers. Only he doesn't know he is a Sith. He follows a holo-thingy that he believes was created by a Jedi but it is actually a Sith one. He never let on his darker side until last game when he used Force Lightening, an inheritently evil power, to kill unarmed soldiers. And my character saw him.

Background for my character: I was eleven yeas old, a Kel Dorian (those weird guys with the face mask), who was lucky enough to escape the great purging of the Jedi because he was out of system following my mentor. My mentor did die, and I have been living as a vagabond ever since, defending myself with my master's old lightsaber. I have no master to teach me the ways of the Jedi until recently when we rescued a Jedi from near-death. He has taught me my first Force powers, including Force Sever, since he expects me to have to use it against my companion who he detected has the taint of the Dark Side. I venerate the lightsaber so I have been focusing all my talents, feats, and powers to that end. I do my best to emulate the traditions of the Jedi, but lacking a proper teacher I turn to the dark side once in a while when I let my emotions get the better of me.

Background for my friend's character: a very old man who always knew he had some sort of "magic" powers but it wasn't until he found the holo-thingy that he began to develope his powers. He does fight to destroy the newly-risin Empire but has no idea that what he does is wrong according to the Jedi code.

I had never before seen him do anything that was evil, and own him my life several times over, as he owes me his. Because of this, and the betrayal I felt at learning his darker powers. My character does not want to kill him, or forsake him, but neither can he allow this transgression of his doctrins be overlooked. My character cannot directly confront him, since he does have advantage over me when using the Force, and the only other way I can end a conflict is with my saber, and subterfuge is out of the question since my character is one of those bright-eyed believers that the universe in inheritently good and lying is bad. Like I said, I have Force Sever, and I want to redeam him, while I am sure my friend wants to corrupt me.

What should I do? Or, rather, what would Yoda do? (WWYD?)

P.S. - from the get-go, both of us knew this would eventually happen, and I honestly never had a role-play situation this complex, or one I enjoyed as much.

Personally I'd go with subterfuge. I'd destroy his holo-thingy while he slept.

That doesn't work for you though. That being the case I'd start trying to drag him into contact with the light side of the force. You may have to protect him for the occasional zealot but you should eventually be able to find people who can explain why those powers are considered of the dark side. Try to find him a holo-thingy from the light side. You're friend isn't a sith so don't treat him as such. Treat him, rather, as misguided. that makes it your job as his friend to guide him to a proper path.

PS: Don't assume he wants to corrupt you. He isn't evil but rather, in your eyes, ignorant. Ignorance can be cured with knowledge. Evil is inherrent and must be destroyed.
