He's been cast as something of a crusty hippy, but he has a penchant for violence (although so far he's killed nothing; I always throw in enough subdual damage to keep that from happening). I was wondering what ya'll would suggest for an outlook. I'm thinking something a little taoist. Maybe the whole "he who flows through life as life flows" kinda' thing, but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

The idea that what comes is meant to come as all things fall into the natural order fits nicely to the described starting place. Consider a philosophy of "Mountains fall, in time, and men die. We strive to change the world and are changed by it. All things come in time." or something similar to those lines wherein you view things on too long a timeline for any effect to be major. You could make a very effective hermit-on-the-mountain type; definetly suited to druid. Playing this character does come with the one major difficulty of knowing why you are bothering to adventure in the first place. Seeking to see the world is good but you should look for at least one noun (person, place, or thing) you care enough about to act over. |
| trapspringer02-17-08, 12:33 PM | huh. Yea, I can see that. But you're right. I do need to come up with some kinda' motivation for a zen kinda' "whatever, dude *cough cough*" guy to be out doing things, huh? Thanks. |

He just wishes to enjoy the trip. As to his "penchant for violence" as you described it, all I have to say is, "Where Zen ends, ass kicking beggins." Your druid sounds like he is probably True Neutral, Neutral Good, or Chaotic Neutral. You might consider how those world views color his zen attitude. If he is good, maybe he is looking to calm his inner beast and help others do the same. If he is chaotic, maybe he is a hedonist that sees no reason to not enjoy every opportunity fate provides for him as a way to embrace the experiances the world offers him. Did what I could with what I had to work with. Hope that helps. |
