| Nethrin05-28-07, 08:03 AM | Im starting a new character in a game and was wondering how to go about doing this. He is a druid (level 6) and I want him to be a summoner primaraly. The DM has stated that since we are based in a city Im going to be a member of a nearby druids grove and stay there much of the off time. This isnt a problem for me, it makes sence being in an urban setting. Here is my problem, I dont know how to work in the theme of an elemental summoner within druid society. Im not sure if there is going to be a division of druids who specialize in summoning or have my character just be a strange type of druid. Has anyone else played a druid summoner type character and how did they fit into druid society? |

It really ticked off the druids though, he broke into one of their groves and stole all sorts of "druid only" spells :P Sorry, that doesnt help much... but uuhh... its something to think about :D |

Just consider your druid a member of a group that deals mainly with the primeval forces of nature. There are some spells which allow you to animate trees or even permanently turn them into treants. Summoning animals is all well and good but the ability to control the raw building blocks of the natural world is another. I've not played a lot of druids and I don't have a book handy so I don't know what elemental summoning spells are available to you but make sure to take even the lowest level things like create water. You may also want to take Rock to Mud and other spells like that and play it off as your ability to shape the world as only a druid can. |

I think the first elemental summon is summon Natures Ally II. Turning trees into treants is spell level 6 and another one at 7 so that gives me some high level options for that theme. I think he's going to be apart of a large (but still a minority in druids) group that is less plant and Animal and more basic elemental. They may not be well thought of by the more "life focused" druids. Any more thoughts? |
