| Roscoe_Greenbottle05-15-07, 01:51 PM | you're right. I don't like though how there are no good prestige classes for arcane summoners, and just the Thuragamist for clerics. |

They are fun to use and the DM can get creative with them as well. Best of all, unlike the Planar Ally spells, Planar Binding doesn't have an experience or cost to it. The only advantage the Ally chain has over the Binding chain is that you get Lesser Ally as a 4th level spell whereas Binding is 5th (and consequently underpowered for its spell level). The normal and greater versions are both 6th and 8th level. If you did decide to choose divine summoning, you're better off with the Druid and summon nature's ally. Spontaneous casting means you dont have to limit your summoning by preparing other spells that might be useful during the course of a day. Also, you can buff your summons pretty well with magic fang and later animal growth. You'll also have a permanent animal companion to help your summoned creature. |
