Or rather, the DM allowed it.

I am playing a half-celestial warforged paladin with a cool backstory and I haven't come up with a name (or even a numerical designation)

So, any thoughts on this character? So far, he's proven to be invulnerable to, well, alot.

R2-D2?

Seriously, can you feed us a bit more info on his background? Was he built by celestials, or by mortals?

I had a Warforged character whose serial number started with "AC", short for Aerrix d'Cannith since he was built along Aerrix's design (which is represented by the Warforged race presented in the Races section of the Eberron Campaign Setting). If I'd stayed in the game long enough for its cohort to join, her serial number would've started with LBS (short for Lord of Blades, Scout), since she was a Scout-type (from MM3) created by the Lord of Blades in the creation forge he appropriated in the Mournland. Of course, they both had names they'd chosen themselves, based on their own behavior. (Reaper was a Fighter who wielded a scythe, and Jabber would've been a Psion (telepath) who enjoyed talking with people.)

Think you can borrow any ideas from that?

My own warforged artificer was named Iron. He named his homunculi Anvil (the one that helped him make magic items) and Ash (the shadowy stealth one). He favored names that were simple and descriptive. I wouldn't be surprised to see yours calling himself something equally simple like Light.

Mithral? Shiny metal. What does he look like? Weapon of choice?

Smite might work, for paladin. What sort of paladin are you? Smiter, or redeemer, or a bit of both?

Maybe call him Envoy. You know, like he was sent by a higher power for diplomatic reasons. Heck, he's already proven that he has immunity. Mind you, it's not diplomatic immunity, but he's still pretty resilient.

Or how about Grace? Halo? Justice? Courage? Spirit? Strength?

Invulerable? Sounds awful dull to me.

Adamant? It implies strength, resilience, steadfastness, longevity, purity, and beauty. (I'm referring to how it's related to the word "diamond", not the word "adamantine".)

Azure? I'd say that a half-celestial warforged might have a deeper connection with the divine than with his/her/its background, and the name might reflect that.

What are his religious views?

If he's really into the Sovereign Host, maybe "9" could be worked into his disignation, to represent the nine gods of the Sovereign Host.
