| Jodjod01-15-06, 07:33 AM | I've decided I'd like to play a cleric of the Cults of the Dragon below, and quite possibly because I've recently started reading Crime & Punishment, I've figured that a disillusioned and somewhat insane Gnome university drop out would be a perfect choice. :D I'm thinking that Terum was born to a wealthy family and had an extensive education, but after feeling bored with life at university [and having studied various religons to try and find some spiritual comfort], he drops out of education and tries to find a job in the church of the Sovereign Host. However, after only managing to get a positon as a lowly clerk Terum quits his job and begins his duties at the Korranberg Grand Library whilst he thinks over what he will do with his life. One night while working there however, a group of priests looking for some tomes to help in an upcoming campaign in the Last War come to the library. Showing an extensive knowledge of religion and the like to them, one of the priests offers to help Terum out and try to get him an inititation into the church as an acolyte. Many months pass and still no word from the Cleric. Eventually though Terum recieves a letter from the cleric informing him of the situation and telling him that he is back in Korranberg and willing to start training immediately. Terum manages to pass training with flying colours and is immediately accepted as an acolyte. In the time that follows, he is also granted priestly status. Now a proper clergyman, Terum decides to go and search for a small village in Zilargo in need of a priest. On his travels Terum starts having visions which he believes are being sent directly from Aureon. Thinking that he is being told a greater purpose, he delays his plan to find a village to settle down in and instead goes in search of some task he can do to better serve his patron. Soon finding himself in Mistmarch, Terum learns of a Cult of the Dragon Below which is operating in the area. He chooses to try and learn about it so he can relay the information to the proper authorities. Terum spends several months investigating the cult and after finding himself actually enjoying being part of the dark rituals, decides that he must leave the cult as soon as it is safe for him to do so. However, just before he plans on leaving town entirely he is brought into the closer circle of the cult and finds himself understanding the teachings of the cult and seeing that many of their goals would tie in nicely with his intense dislike for Gnomish politics. I figure he decides to stay on in the cult and much like in the Church of the Sovereign Host, eventually achieves priestly status and later Cleric-dom within the Cult. Now, I'm wondering whether this seems like a good concept and if anyone has any suggestions as to how/why he would be adventuring with a party of do-gooders. Sooo, thoughts/comments/criticisms? |
| Morka01-16-06, 09:07 AM | The beginning makes me think about a fact in real life. When I was in University, there was young stranger studying there. They were taking only the minimum amount of courses, and paying minimum attention to those courses. In fact, their parents were wealthy politicians in not-so-wealthy countries, and were paying their studies at prestigious universities. As long as they were studying, they had a large amount of money to live with. So why pay more attention to the courses than they truly need? Note: just today, it's the third Eberron Background I comment. I wonder if you are all playing in the same campaign??? |
