The big mean grown-up took away my wicked cool new knife. [Archive] - Wizards Community

Ok, I started playing a child character and while we were exploring this "awesome" cave we found some "gross" dead bodies (which I immediately poked with a stick) and my "temperary guardian" and I found a knife. Due to the fact the party recently came across a sword which caused anyone who touched it (my temperary guardian) to become cursed and compelled to have it and share it with no one, he told ME to grab the knife we found.

I sense motive at 0 and my temperary guardian is a charismatic rogue.

After picking up the knife I began slashing it about, telling everyone how "cool" it was, and how I was going to shine it up real good. Unfortunately the party paladin saw me "playing" with the knife and since I grapple at +5 (and he is a half-celestial) he was able to get it away from me.

Now what I want to know is why can't I have a knife? I can channel light through a staff only I can wield to harm evil. I can fly under my own power and totally fake people out with mind-tricks. I have a pet squirrel and a tiny air elemental lives in my Heward's Handy Haversack. I am over 130 years old (granted trapped in the body and mindset of a 12 year old).

I want a sharp thing to poke other things with! (Pouts)

What should I do to (in character) to change the parties mind about me having a weapon that does more than bludgeoning?

(My only weapon is a class tool that functions as a +1 mythral heavy mace.)

By no means should another party member have the right to simply take your item away, even for in character reasons, talk to the DM and the players, try to reason with them, and if that doesn't work, steal it from the paladin while he's sleeping :D

Well, since my character doesn't have to sleep I am thinking while he is sleeping to use one of my psionic based powers to make some of his stuff give off evil and chaotic auras for about 1d4 hours. Since my character is some what of a prankster I could also "super glue" his sleeping gear to his body for about 5 minutes and rig all of his items so when he goes to touch them, they give him a jolt...

But after all he was only "looking out for me," even if it was a cool knife...

A 12 year old WITHOUT a knife?

Is the character an elf or something?

I mean really, modern kids often have knives (if they live ANYWHERE near a forest, and I assume the case is the same inside the big cities too) by that age. Even more to the point, can that arrogant Paladin be SURE he will always be there to save you? I mean hinting that by removing some of your defenses he is depriving you of security and will be responsible for anything bad for you may work.

Or your character may become the first 12 year old kid with the equivalent of a paladin familiar... :D

Hello! All the cool kids have knives. Don't you want to be a cool kid too? And paladins! So uncool, so old and unfasionable.

I'd try to get the knife back the way your character would. There are tons of ways to do it. Steal it, beg for it, through a tentrum-tantrum, ask why you can't have it, ask the paladin to train you in it or prove that you can use it responsively. Or go evil and kill everyone for your precious knife... no don't do that. ;)

I was just going to prank them, but I guess I could go on a childish killing spree... would it be TOO evil if I giggled as I slaughtered them with psionic powers?

Naw, the wizard, rogue, fighter, paladin, and cleric wouldn't like that too much... and the fact I am the lowest level character in the party might keep me from pulling off that little trick as well...

I like the idea of training to use the knife and becoming "responable," but only to the point I get the knife, than it's wildly slashing about time...

Although, as I come to think about it, I have a class feature that allows me to basically manifest from my own imagination any clothing/armor/weapon/anything I can carry on myself that I am familiar with (granted the instant it leaves my possession it disappears into nothingness and I can only create non-masterwork non-magical things), so it isn't beyond my power to just magic up another knife... but I want THAT knife...

Maybe I could trick him into giving me the knife? Or trick someone else into getting it for me...

FYI

This same paladin accidently "killed" (disembodied for about 6 hours) the cleric of our party after the cleric failed a will save against a fear effect to get into a cave we were exploring (damn balor fear effect). The paladin sort of tried to stuff the cleric into his portable hole (so that he could carry him inside, past the fear effect), but unfortunately the cleric was wearing a Heward's Handy Haversack at the time. For some odd reason, as the who extradimensional areas collapsed upon one another, all the paladin could really think about was "Ah! My Food!" which he had stuck in the portable hole. Of course, he was decapitated by the balor's vorpal sword, so the wizard teleported us out...

Who says there's no such thing as karma?

Well, now the cleric is back on this plane of existance, the paladin was reserected, but I still don't have my knife! I should have swiped it from his dead corpse, instead of picking up his head for the journey back...

Oh well, like I said, I'll think of something...

What am I?

Well, I've been throwing together some stuff for a children's campaign (rules and stuff for if you wanted to play a child or childish character) and so my DM is allowing me to play test some of my stuff.

Here is a quick once over for my Bio:

Name: Whitric C. Rhylee aka "Kid" aka "Blue" aka "Decoy"
Race: Human Male (Forever Young Template)
Alignment: Chaotic Good (not "exalted" but sort of goodie-goodie)
Height: 4'7"
Weight: 87 lbs.
Hair/Eye color: Blue and Blue
Class: Inner Child 5/Imagineer 5/Guardian of Dreams 1
Stats: Str 13, Dex 15, Con 19, Int 13, Wis 15, Cha 20

Background:

My character was once a black haired, green eyed 16 year old human arcane engineer (wizard), but due to an accident involving a rod of wonder, a reincarnation spell, and an obsession with the Goddess Ana (campaign goddess) he was transformed into a blue troglodyte with a rod of wonder grafted into his arm. After acting all bratty (he didnt have a good childhood), Ana (the goddess) sent him into another plane of existance to give him a second chance at having a normal childhood. (At least that is the explination I gave the DM so I could try out some of my new children's campaign stuff.)

He was turned into a 12 year old human (forever young template) and for flavor he kept the blue eyes and hair (plus he wears blue all the time). The forever young template is basically he is trapped in the body of a kid and it balanced out enough to be an LA+0 template.

In the other plane he also lost all of his memories and experiences (levels) and began progressing in the psionic class I made for the children's campaign called Inner Child (basically wilder but instead of wilder surges he can get into a "persona" and pretend to be someone else and use non-class skills as if they were trained).

Than, since he was sort of wondering around and using his powers to delude himself and the world around him, I sent him on the path of Imagineer (basically illusions begin to become more and more real until he exists in a place somewhere between reality and dreams). After a few decades of that he decided to shape up and began on the path of Guardian of Dreams (not a very powerful class as it has mostly to do with sleep power and effects or dealing with people who are sleeping).

Than, because of the whole time moving faster/slower in certain planes thing, the goddess decided he needed to return and help his friends so about 6 months in their time a little blue hair kid pops out of the sky and lands on the parties fighter.

So now I am a 133 year old blue haired human trapped within the body and mentality of a 12 year old child, who can also use psionic powers and did I mention my pet squirrel?
