| Epicuris06-21-03, 12:28 PM | I am currently creating a new character. Unfortunately, I've hit a snag. First off, he is a half-drow and I've rolled up these stats: Str - 10 Dex - 15 Con - 13 Int - 14 Wis - 16 Cha - 12 His parents were a female drow, a follower of Eilistraee, and his father was a human Harper. They loved their son and raised him well. After he had come of age, the camp where the Eilistraee followers lived was attacked by a band of Underdark drow in the name of Lloth. Though the surface drow prevailed, his mother was killed in the attack. Both father and son were devistated, but kept their strong ties to one another. As the years passed, his human father aged far faster than he and after his inevitable death, our young half-drow must now find his way in the world. Though he loves his home, he does not believe he can find solace here so moves out into the world. He tends to be loner, but friendly. He's described as having "a rare degree of intuition, sensitivity, and a questioning nature." Self-expression, studying "what makes him tick," and learning are his passions, but he learns as much by doing as by studying. Possessing a good heart, he has little need for rules, preferring to listen to what his gut tells him. Regardless, this makes those of more regimented disciplines chaff under his company. A lover of word play, he tends to be short with his conversation, but eloquent. So far, as you can see, I have a good understanding of who this character is, but I don't know what class "fits" him. We are playing in the Forgotten Realms, but everything is open to us, even the Psionic Handbook, so the possibilities are nearly limitless. I could just use a little help and ideas to get me pointed in the right direction. Thanks. |

| Epicuris06-21-03, 12:46 PM | I was thinking of giving him higher Cha, but even though he seems confident to others, he suffers from much self-doubt. I don't really understand everything Cha encompasses, but thought that might put a damper on his Cha score. |
| ShadeGirl06-21-03, 01:04 PM | Vikes, I played a half-drow. Unfortunately, since their appearence is similar to drow, my DM had everyone scream and run for the town guard whenever they saw her. Do you think your DM will do the same? My personal thought: Rogue. My reasoning: He tends to be loner, but friendly. *Many rogues are driven to a solitary life for one reason or another* A lover of word play, he tends to be short with his conversation, but eloquent. *But that doesn't mean that these rogues can't put on the charm when they want to* ;) Self-expression, studying "what makes him tick," and learning are his passions, but he learns as much by doing as by studying. *Skill-points* I must admit, my first instinct was bard with your guy after reading about him, but I think he could reach more success with rogue. Both classes would be good decisions for your character. truly, ShadeGirl |
| Dragonchild06-22-03, 06:40 PM | Epicuris, those stats and that background have "monk" written all over them. |
| eternal cryptic06-24-03, 07:47 AM | I donīt think that a monk would fit, īcause thereīs not a word about a monastry (In Faerun monks are organized in such). The next thing is that only because the Abilities seem to fit one has to play a monk or a paladin. You could try a Ranger with Drow as favored enemy. Since you are only Half-Drow you havenīt to be evil to do so. Later on you could eventually progress as a foe hunter. Even if you donīt want to progress as a ranger. Another option would be to add a rogue to the ranger. You could then master the most situations alone due to the use magic device skill and the Track and Traps feat. At higher ranger levels you gain an animal companion which could be your "only true friend". The rogue would also be a good add-on for the foehunter. With the sneak attack ability you can give those damn drows something of their own medicine back. __________________ Swift Death To Those Who Have Wronged Me |
| The Deceiver06-24-03, 09:35 AM | A wild idea... but what about a cleric of Eilistraee (to honor your character's fallen mother) or a cleric of Shevarash (a CN deity of vengeance and hatred towards drow)? You don't need to enlist yourself in the church; you could develop a deep, mystical with your deity and dedicate your life towards a noble and worthy cause. |
| Mr. VanderMeer06-24-03, 10:32 AM | I think this would be a nice druid. oving the nature he has discovered on the surface. I think the personality you give him would fit for a neutral good druid |
| KaeYoss06-24-03, 11:38 AM | Originally posted by The Deceiver or a cleric of Shevarash (a CN deity of vengeance and hatred towards drow)? That won't work at all: Shaverash is blind in his hatred against the drow, and he won't allow any drow or half-drow to worship him. Not just no drow clerics - no drow nothing. I can imagine such a half-drow getting visions in his dreems or intense headache whenever he tries to commune with Shaverash. Eilistraee might work, of course. |
| KaeYoss06-24-03, 11:45 AM | [double post] |
| pjackson06-24-03, 11:55 AM | I would go with Rogue with a single level of Wizard or Bard to reflect his love of learning. |
