So, I want to make a very heroish (in the modern super-hero sense rather than the D&D sense). Thus far I have a name, The Composer. I'm looking for any classes that deal with the manipulation of sound or music without actually playing an instrument (he probably will play one, but I'm looking to create The Composer, not The Performer). Can anyone think of any classes, prestige classes, feats, or templates to this end?

You could make a bard who writes his own music.

Eh, my goal was to stray away from bard as much as possible. Casting spells by playing music and creating effects by playing (Bardic Music) just don't fit into what I'm going for. Hrm, if any of you have seen V for Vendetta, the main character is somewhat similar to what I'm looking for, just with a more musical theme. Someone who works behind the scenes, "composing" events. But I want to add to that with a few more musical themed things.

Take perform (winking knowingly) and act it out.

There's the Jester prestige class in dragon magazine #330 who gains some pretty nice abilities. Also gives a bonus to perform checks and if you get a high enough result, then deities will want to have you perform for them (instant plothook!)

Sorcerer will probably have a good line here if you don't want to take Bard so much. Sorcerer will also give you access to Archmage.

As a composer of events, he'll probably specialise in Enchantment and compulsion spells, specifically ones with Somatic components, or at least ones he can add otherwise-false Somatic components too. Think things like Dominate Person, Suggestion, Otto's Irresistable Dance, and others like Fireball with Mastery of Elements from Archmage.

Ideally, Bard should be the course, then you get spells like Song of Discord and Sound Burst.

You might check out Evangelist in Complete Divine. It could make a good revolutionary V type character.

In the Complete Arcane there is a prestige calss that lets you sacrifice spells for more bardic music ability. they also give you a awsome bardic music ability. Basically while you sing you get fire resistance as long as you sing and while you sing you can shoot fire.

The Composer, with the power to change sound to fire!

Sounds interesting. I was considering sublime chord, but I really want to avoid spellcasters (even partial spellcasters like bards) for this.
