| Page09-05-03, 12:50 AM | hey, Im fairly new to dnd and I was hoping you guys could help me with a vague character concept that I need to flesh out by Saturday. My basis is a female elf wizard. Shes gonna be a "tree hugger" as my friends put it (shes very affiliated with nature). Im running with the idea of her being abandoned some point in her childhood in the wilderness (I worked out a deal with my dm that translates into me having a famiiar for free and a bonus in trapmaking and move silently with a restriction of a school of magic) She worships Ehlonna (I think? dont have the books with me at the moment) the goddess of the woodlands. I know its pretty vague but do you have anything to contribute? Any help is appreciated. |

If you don't want to become a geomancer, or don't have access to MotW, you may want to alter the concept of the wizard a bit. Instead of learning spells from books, prehaps she mixes different mundane herbs and other natural objects (acorns, insect shells, etc.) that create magic-like effects. For example, mixing together the pollen of a rose with crushed dried mushrooms might create a sleeping powder, which in game terms, works just like the sleep spell |

Basically, it allows you to have two skills as class skills. It's not exactly the most butch idea but you might think about spending your first level feat on track...if you chose survival as one of those class skills. I'm afraid i'm not really sure what else might be helpful without more info. on what you're looking for. I like the ideas of the herbs...but it could get pretty complicated unless you guys were just going to assume that was all going on in the background. This could also be problematic since the DM could be setting a bit of precedence here for a Wizard to cast and scribe spells in his "book" at a MUCH cheaper cost than it normally is. |
