Tread lightly around the baker's shop, youngster, or The Gitaruman might git you.

Who is this Gitaruman? Well legend has it that he was a happy, spirited soul just like me and you... Gitaruman had had seen about eleven summers before the fateful day of his family picnic....

You know about picnics right? Lots of food, lots of family and friends in the countryside... but this particular picnic was special. There were many pies... enough pies for a pie eating contest with all picnic attendants as contestants.

Our young Gitaruman sat down at the longest, pie loaded picnic table he had ever seen, and when the whistle blew, he hungrily wolfed down the pie in front of him in hopes of winning. And, as luck would have it, he was the first to finish his pie... No one else had finished theirs, young Gitaruman realized as he lifted his berry filling pasted face up from his empty pie tin. Our poor Gitaruman then realized no one had finished because everyone... was... dead...

It is said his cry at this realization would put a banshee to shame. This pie eating contest of doom had killed all his family and friends. What killed the pie eating contestants? Some say Gitaruman's drive to win snuffed out the life of all the other eaters... Others say some malicious demon had poisoned all pies but one as a twisted joke. Regardless, Gitaruman's life changed forever...

Lost, he became a street orphan, begging and picking whatever scraps he could to survive. Eventually he came upon a friendly bard of the lyre, who, in a great act of compassion, took little Gitaruman as his apprentice.

As Gitaruman reached adulthood, he found he could no longer progress his lyre skills under the teachings of his bardic master, and decided to strike out on his own. Before he could leave, however, Gitaruman had to give his teacher some sort of gift to thank the bard for his kindness. He chanced upon a foriegn merchant who had an interesting instrument -- a guitar. What a splendid, unique stringed instrument... different from the lyre, yet so similar, thought little Gitaruman, the perfect gift! He purchased it immediately and sought his master.

As soon as he entered his master's house, he was assaulted with the wonderful aroma of freshly baked desserts. Wow, master really enjoys his pastries, Gitaruman thought as he saw his master with his face buried into the doughy shell of a fruit pie...

It only took a moment for Gitaruman to realize that his master had succumbed to the sweet, delicious trappings of the pie and had died while eating it.

Again, Gitaruman cried loud and fierce... but this time, his voice was accompanied by the wail of a guitar...

His name forgotten by the common man, he was given the name Gitaruman from reputation, and set out to discover why he was cursed with deadly baked goods killing those close to him.

Gitaruman's efforts lead him nowhere, and he soon went mad. Guitar in hand, he began travelling the civilized world, terrorizing bakers and pastry chefs, seeking to instill demoralizing fear into those who would make pies and eat pies with his song.

So again, I'll warn you. Be wary near the Bakery. Take caution outside the Pastry Shop... The Gitaruman is out there... Somewhere.... Waiting to git you.

Gitaruman is a Bard/Hexblade/Warlock/Sonokineticist (Variant pyrokineticist) I am currently working on. His primary skills are intimidate, bluff, and profession (baker)--he passionately hates bakers, yet has gathered great knowledge of their works during his travels seeking the source of his curse.
