The Hexblade/Inkyo: Trying to get a cohesive character concept [Archive] - Wizards Community

Right now, I'm working on creating a multiclass of the Hexblade (Complete Warrior) and Inkyo (Rokugan). The DM has no problem with this, and the campaign setting roughly takes place in the north-western Ottoman Empire/eastern europe in the 1500's.
I'm having a hard time getting a cohesive theme for this character. The Hexblade emphasizes combat and cursing people. The Inkyo emphasizes unarmed combat and personal enlightenment. The combat part is pretty easy to tie together; It's getting the cursing to work with the enlightenment part. Inflicting bad luck unto your enemies doesn't seem very enlightened. I'm thinking of playing him as either some kind of Witch Hunter (between Inkyo Saves, Mettle, Arcane Resistance, and Purity, he'll be mad-resistant to magic) or an "Occult Warrior" of some kind.
I've already got my mind set on a few things....
1) Wielding a pair of sword-pistols (one long, one short). I've been wanting to use those ever since I saw Once Upon a Time in China.
2) He will either be Spanish or Greek. If he is Spanish, his name will be Ricardo Banderas. If he is Greek, his name will be Nikolai Balthasar. (Any one recognize those names? ^_^)
3) He will have a missing eye, and use a gold or silver coin as an eyepatch. I just think it would look cool :P.
I can't decide whether I want him to be young and dashing (probably a high charisma, after all) or old and grizzled.
Any help on such a peculiar character?

heyho,

you could look at the cursing bit as karmic comeuppance. personal enlightenment, to become selfless, to become not-ego; you tap into the Mind of the universe, the will of Reality, and do not interfere with the universe's changing vicissitudes. The curses that others suffer are not directed by -you-, because -you- do not exist; it is the natural effect of the ill karma that others have reaped. Even Self/ Other is also ultimately a lie; the curse that you direct has always been present, before you curse. it's just that the ill will was somewhere, somewhen else, and it flows to the proper channel as rivers flow to the sea in your presence.

hope this was helpful!

Yours, shao
