| Fithero12-25-05, 01:42 AM | Ok, so my current horror game is set on an island where the current avatar of the island is this half-black dragon unicorn. Long story short, the old avatar was a unicorn that was raped by a black dragon and who ever kills the current avatar becomes the new one. The unicorn died in child birth, thus the abomination became the current avatar. Now, story wise, being the avatar of the island basically means that your connected to the island in spirit or something like that (im still working out the bugs). But its not that important untill the chararcters actually kill the half-dragon unicorn and one of them (the one that lands the killing blow) becomes the next avatar. What im wondering is, what would the character gain from being the islands avatar? Im thinking that it would be able to sense where every living thing is on the island, and never get lost. But what else? control plants, animals, the weather? something even wierder than that? There has to be *some* benefit to it. Im thinking that the avatars alignment has an effect (i made unicorn a cold creature, thus the island was a winter wonderland, the half dragon was fire, so it was a tropical jungle... very harsh enviroment.) So what would the various alignments do to the island, or should i just let the actual player decided what to do according to their tastes? This is a big part of the game, and i dont want to go at it half-ar$sed. Any help here would be great guys. Chiers and merry xmas. Later |

Maybe they can also have complete control over the land of the island, like if there's an enemy in front of him, he could just have the earth around him drop into a pit or have thorns intangle him. |

Other than that, I agree with controlling the land, sensing living things, perhaps be revered by all native species on the island (if there are any). |

One of the powers associated with being the avatar could be like the druid spell that allows you to walk into one tree/plant and out of another any where else on the island. A bonus to move silently and hide whilst on the island. I also think that the Avatar should be unable to leave the island by any spell or item, either the spell/item not working or if the avatar does manage to get away they loose con each day until the die or return. If they die they awake on the island again |
