| Haun77705-14-07, 12:32 AM | Norwick Doubleblades is the last of the Doubleblades Clan a Clan that unlike most of the other Clans in the Dwarf Kingdom used “TWO” Dwarven War Axes, instead of the big Great Axes or War Hammers. The Doubleblade clan was never really taken seriously and most other Dwarfs simply thought the idea was idiotic. Norwick was in awe the day he became apart of Doubleblade and gained his clan name. He thought the Idea of fighting with two weapons swinging through the air was… well the only way to go. Shortly after his entrance into the Clan the Kingdom was attacked by an army of Drow taken by surprise the Dwarf army used every Clan member from all Clans to fight this almost impossible foe. Unfortunately after the battle the only Doubleblade left was Norwick. Norwick then left his Kingdom to spread his Doubleblade fury apon the evil of the world and reclaim his Clan by finding the best in two weapon fighting and becoming the best two weapon fighter anyone has ever seen and bring back Clan Doubleblade. This is all I have come up with… What do you think? Anything I can add? Anything cooler? Any Ideas you have that I can add He is a Dwarf with red hair and blue eyes he is 4’5 and weighs a little on the heavy side at 289 pounds He is a little racist against Elves and Drinks heavily. He wears light armor and his Clan crest he worships Moradian (sp?). This will probably go into Epic levels so I have a 20 level spread ready right now 6—levels fighter 5—levels Tempest 9—levels Fighter I plan on wielding two Dwarven war Axes Feats Quick Draw Two Weapon Fighting Over Sized Weapon Fighting Dodge Mobility Spring Attack Improved Two Weapon Fighting Weapon Focus Weapon Specialization Greater Two Weapon Fighting Two Weapon Defense Improved Two Weapon Defense Greater Weapon Focus Greater Weapon Specialization Two Weapon Rend Well that’s all I can think of now what do you guys think and what do you guys have that I can add to this? Thanks ahead of time for taking the time to read this and reply thank you! |

| Prom05-15-07, 02:43 AM | Hi Haun777, You are the second person I have responded too, who wants to kill off his whole clan, then seek revenge. Is killing off your mother and father to tame. Why not try something less cliche. Can't a small bus load of dwarfs escape and try to make a new life. The process of finding a reasonable place to settle down could be a strong reason to explore and adventure. And everytime your character dies just bring in another surviving member of the Doubleblades Clan. Just a suggestion. Prom |

The "my clan was killed off" really has passed from staple of the genre into cliche. I can offer you a twisted version if you like. Norwick Doubleblades was one of the last to join the Doubleblades Clan. This clan was unlike most of the other Clans in the Dwarf Kingdom and used “TWO” Dwarven War Axes, instead of the big Great Axes or War Hammers. The Doubleblade Clan was young and unfortunatelly they never really were taken seriously. It was not that they lacked strength, bravery, honor, or any of the other staples of dwarven life though. Rather they were glory seekers. They had a tendency to take risks and desire to be known in the wider world that other dwarves simply could not appreciate. Norwick was in awe the day he became a warrior of Doubleblade and gained his clan name. He could name every hero the clan had thus produced from memory and recount the deeds that earned them such a title. Shortly after receiving his axes the kingdom was attacked by an army of Drow. Taken by surprise the Dwarf army none the less put forth a formidable defense. Every dwarf, no matter their clan, came to fight this almost impossible foe. During the battle the Doubleblades saw a chance to strike home at their foes. They rushed a weak flank and decimated a gathering of wizards who had been pounding away at the walls of the capital relentlessly. They gloried as they swept drow heads from their owners necks and knew they must truly have had Clangeddin's blessing for such an opportunity. When they returned from their victory they found their error however. They returned just barely in time to help repulse a major surge on their former position. Attacking the enemies rear they poured into the breach they had left behind. Recklessly they threw their lives away trying to reclaim what they had given. The battle ended in favor of the dwarves in the end but not in favor for Clan Doubleaxe. The king's council gathered them in a public square to announce his decision of punishment for abandoning their post. Since the clan had chosen glory over duty they would face another choice now. Each would forever give up the symbol of his clan or face exile. Clan Doubleaxe would never be recognized as a clan of the kingdom again. Norwick nearly wept when he saw that not one of his fifty remaining bretheren would lay down their second axe. The clan had heedlessly thrown away many lives defending the kingdom and they knew the punishment was just though. The remaining warriors of his clan accepted their punishment but also swore an oath. Clan Doubleaxe was a clan of heros. They knew then that the only path to restore their clan was to become new heros. In exile they went out into the world with a vow and a duty. Each and every one would become a hero. Each would find a way to change the world for the better or die trying. Each who lived would return to the kingdom with his bretheren once the oath had been fulfilled and restore their clan with the greatness of their deeds. Just my take but I think it makes an interesting motivation for a hero. "I need to become a hero" is a common enough thought for young adventurers but few have a greater motivation for doing so. |
